Here's my non IP recipe using probiotic capsules…

2 C. Soy Mylk, no flavoring, minimal ingredients
5 capsules of 10 billion probiotics (powder separated from capsules)
    1 tsp Sugar
    1/2 tsp Agar agar powder

Every tool you use needs to be sterile, so start by boiling water and standing your jar, lid, pitcher, measuring spoons and stirring spoon in boiling hot water for 5 mins then drain on a clean dish towel.

    1. Heat mylk in microwave for 4 mins to get chill off (aiming for 110° F), I  used a wide mouthed microwave safe glass  pitcher.

    2. Sprinkle probiotic powder on top then stir gentle in "S" pattern to distribute and dissolve powder for about 1 min.

    3. Sprinkle and similarly stir in sugar.

    4. Sprinkle and similarly stir in the agar agar powder.

    5. Pour into your yogurt storage container, I  used a wide mouth glass canning jar and put lid on.

    6. After removing trays, stand container on bottom center of dehydrater and set for 110° F and run for 6 hours

    7. Check for yogurt consistency/development

    Your yogurt should:
    Be solid with no separation
Be a plain yogurt color of white to creamy off white, no hints of pink or gray.

If you have liquid on bottom half of jar, the yogurt has separated. You can drain off the white "curd" or mix in the liquid "whey". It is edible.

If you have pink or gray discoloration , toss and start again. The wrong bacteria grew in your yogurt. It is NOT edible.

Ha. I like to think of myself as a really good vegan chef, and I have never successfully made yogurt. You're in good company. I love soy milk, too. Coconuts are lovely when you want something that tastes like coconut. but you can't use it for everything. The pervasiveness of coconut in every product makes me wonder if I am just crazy. Health trends are funny.

Jill, bet I can make you do happy dance, on you tube search "updated process- homemade vegan yogurt in the instant pot". Julie Marie Christensen creator of Protective Diet also shows this on her site. Any who, easy peasy on yogurt. Soy milk into clean jar, add 1tsp of your already made yogurt ( yes, no more packets) to milk, put jar into dry IPot, ( no water) close up IPot and set yogurt with yogurt button, no more cooking milk, no more buying live culture packets….. hope you enjoy!!

Hi Jill. I'm new to your channel and so far, it look like you have a lot of recipes I can use. I can't have oats so will need to find a substitute. I love the idea of granola. I know there are a lot of other rolled grains that might be used. I'll check it out. If you have any experience with substitutes for oats, let me know. Sounds delish.

I worked a 12 hour shift today at the hospital, and I needed a good laugh when I came home. Thank you so much for cheering me up, and giving me great ideas for recipes. I tried a probiotic pill for soy milk one time to, and it didn't work either. Sorry, I should have shared that with you! 🙂

I used the recipe from Miyoko's cookbook for the yogurt using probiotic powder and was not successful either. 🙁 i gave up on yogurt altogether since I don't like any of the commercially avaiable vegan yogurts. I do miss plain, unsweetened yogurt. My family has requested the granola so that's on the list!

Yay Jill, thank you so much for your granola recipe. Thank you sooooo much. After you made your soy milk, is that where it is done as soy milk? And from there you use it in cereal or in recipes calling for "milk"?? Sorry if that's a dumb question. I never made soy milk before.

I wonder if your issue was the homemade soy milk & not the probiotic powder. I make mine with Trader Joe's organic soy milk or West soy. The only ingredients are soy beans & water. And I use one of my probiotic pills & have never had an issue. Let me know & I can send you a couple of my probiotics pills for you to try.

I made soy yogurt in the ipot using a probiotic pill into each jar.  What I ended up with was a layer of yogurt with water underneath I used the yogurt that set up and that was good but don't know how I could make the soymilk thicker.
