Instant Pot Meatloaf – using the Steamer Insert

Hey Everyone,
I was sent an Instant Pot Steamer insert to do an honest review on it. I am in love with my Instant Pot and this is a great addition to it. I was able to make Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and steamed carrots all in 20 minutes in one pot!!! This pot is perfect for cheesecake (I will link that video below) veggies, fish even reheating leftovers. It’s made of 304 Food Grade Stainless Steel so you don’t have to worry about the food burning. The stainless steel cooker insert is compatible with most instant pot models including IP-DUO50, IP-DUO60, IP-LUX60, IP-DUO80. Also fits other multi quart (6 quart and above) electric pressure cookers such as Kuhn Rikon, Power XL, Cuisinart, Fagor, Costaway, Faberware, T-fal, Elite, GoWise, Secura, Gourmia.

This was from the company:

For pot in pot cooking has anyone used the disposable aluminum pans? I keep reading anything oven safe is safe in an instant pot but have not seen anyone use them.

My mom made meatloaf with carrots and potatoes in the old time pressure cooker when I was growing up and I have to say it looked much nicer. The meatloaf was actually brown and moist inside. It was better meatloaf than I make in my oven. I know she used a metal plate that came in the pressure cooker on the bottom of the cooker first, and then the meatloaf was placed on top of that. I'm not impressed at all with the looks of this in the instapot. I have to try to do this myself and see if I can't figure out how to make the meatloaf dinner of my childhood in the instapot. I'm sure this is going to be a challenge but I do love the taste of a moist meatloaf. Thanks for your video! P.S. In all my years growing up with a mother who consistantly used a normal, old fashioned pressure cooker, not one mishap do I ever remember. Most meals and the canning were done with it. The secret was never letting that jigger gig like crazy. Slow and steady I still remember the sound. My mom was wonderful cook and I wish I had taken more interest back then.

The kids are sleeping so I'm watching this with the sound off, but I have to say, that meatloaf is the nastiest thing I have ever seen. I'm sure it tastes better than it looks…..it'd have to……

I have these and never used them so I will try but cover my Meatloaf with A mushroom gravy or even tomato sauce jazzed up a bit. Thanks. I may just do the potatoes and broccoli and cabbage and do my meat in My Ninja Foodie and It’s so delicious I cannot think of cooking my meat anywhere else I absolutely love that thing. I enjoy my Instant Pot as well. Between the 2 of them my stove is out of business and much of my oven too

I have a summer casserole that I make I. Microwave, I think time would be about 10 to 12 min. In the Insta-pot, it is 1 cup a rice, large zucchini , and 5 small fresh tomatoes. 1small pack/tube of bulk sausage browned, would 12 min. Be good? What do you think, I have a pot in pot I want to try. I guess if rice is not done I could add some time . Just wondering 😊👋🏻👍🏻

I get your point sweetheart but I think I’ll pass on that meatloaf, that does not look appetizing. I don’t think you can cook everything in a Insta pot and make it look appetizing. Yes it’s fast yes he cooks it well done quickly. But somethings I think you still need it oven. Nice try

A little barbecue on top and under the broiler for 5 minutes would be amazing. I eat with my eyes first. Maybe that’s just me. Thanks fir the video. Going to get me those pans for sure….For reheating leftovers if nothing else. 👍🏼

I'm wondering trying pot in pot. Bottom pot will hold halved sweet potatoes sprinkled with cinnamon and some bourbon and pat of butter. Top will hold baby carrots sprinkled with cinnamon and pat of butter using steam lid. Each will be served in a bowl with the bourbon/butter mix poured over sweet potatoes.

I note how American cooking incorporates so many added-in factory-made ingredients. Julia Child, whose videos are available on YouTube, always worked from basic ingredients, but the modern US way seems to be a box of ''stock'', a pack of so-called breadcrumbs (rusk), a packet of sauce mix, a packet of of herbs, a box of onion soup etc. This, with respect, means the meal is not so much cooked as assembled!
