I made these today exactly like the video shows in my Instant Pot. They are delicious! I know that dried beans do not have to be pre-soaked before cooking in an Instant Pot, but honestly, they are so much more tender if you do. Like you said they are SO much better than canned! The texture of these beans is excellent. I was looking for a method that does not use meat & although you gave that option I did not miss it at all. The bay leaves do a lot for this dish. Thank you!

I hope somebody that knows their instant pot better than me will chime in with an answer to a question. I'm going to make this recipe for dinner tonight. I want to make rice to go along with it and was wondering, if I use a tall stand rack for another pot, will the rice be too over cooked if I cook both the rice and peas at the same time??

@LemonadeMom looks yummy, my other add ins would be onion powder, garlic powder, red chili flakes for a little heat(optional) smoked paprika and if I don't add meat, I add a little liquid smoke😁. Red and green peppers and chopped spinach/kale also.

I think it’s so much fun to have traditions rather it being black eyed peas for good luck 🍀 or believing breaking a mirror means 7 years bad luck ( sure wished I didn’t break those compact mirrors when I was a teen hahah) we always have black eyed peas hoping John style and cornbread for New Years mmm I think 🤔 I’ll make that again this Saturday we love❤️it.

Are Black Eyed Peas actually peas or are they beans? My husband would love them if I tried them out, me I'm not sure, but I'd be willing to try them, though I would probably add the ham. Thanks for sharing with us.

I've been using I-Pots for a couple of years. Use the slow cooker! It's very cheap to buy the accessory glass lid, or you may actually have a lid from one of your other pots that fits. I got rid of my big slow cooker 'cause the I-Pot does just as well and it's easier to clean. I use the slow cooker function as much as the pc.

This year I'm not doing anything special, I'm not Superstitious, and for me it's just another day. But Growing up and even as an adult up until this year I always had Sauerkraut and smoked sausage.
