My mom roasted the bag one year and it didn't do anything, so I am hyper aware of the bag when I cook. It's brought up every time she cooks a turkey, so she has never been able to outlive that story.

I don't know all the details for the other countries, but I think most countries have a Thanksgiving celebration day, though obviously not based on the pilgrims and native Americans. Just a general celebrating day of giving thanks, some still connected to a certain historic event.

I give you big kudos! I have never made a whole turkey before. Usually it's my mom doing all that part of work, and we chip in to help with the sides or dessert. So I salute you for giving it a go. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try it too. (P.S. I think the lack of "gorgeous open kitchen counter space like cooking Youtubers have" actually makes this project seem more attainable. You have smaller space like I do, lol.)
Did you find that candied ginger in the baking aisle of your grocery store, or elsewhere? I'm just wondering where to find it, because I want to try a Martha Stewart "molasses-ginger crisp" cookies recipe for the holidays and it calls for candied ginger (along with 2 other kinds of ginger, lol). I've actually never gotten candied ginger before! 🙂
