Superb content..as always..buuuuut..being meself a bastard (mum's french and old man's british), i can say, with confidence, that 'crème anglaise' and custard aren't exactly the same…eventhough the ingredients and serving temperatures are the same (both can be served cold/luke warm or hot but not scrambled) custard is way thicker than 'crème anglaise'… CA is the lighter, more refined version of the british custard..in fact the latter's so thick it used to be served at school for pudding (us eng: dessert).

God bless you and your family..
Love from across the pond !

Man I love bread pudding. My mom made it, often, when I was a kid. As she got older, she went for an easier recipe and started using raisin bread. Saved some work.

Reminds me of my mum's bread and butter pudding with real vanilla pod custard! Heaven with an espresso.
You could try soaking raisins in Marsala wine (used in tiramisu).
    Enjoy folks.
