I’M 79…AND it’s a process! Today I’m sharing my recent weight loss and health issue. I’m all about sharing the aging process with …
Merry Christmas Patti to you and all your family. x
I am happy for you. I helped my mom go from 2-3x to size 16 at age 72. Her health is getting better as she gets older, take care of you.
Yes to the what you eat!
I have found having 2 T of flax seed per day have really brought down my blood pressure. I put it in my oat meal (or in my coffee, if I am eating something other than oatmeal) It has really been encouraging. I'm 77 and had the fluctuating but elevated blood pressure prior to that.
I would advise you not to take any statin drugs. My husband’s good health was PERMANENTLY ruined by taking Lipitor prescribed by his PCP for slightly elevated cholesterol levels. He began having excruciating cramps at night and then throughout the daytime as well. That was 21 years ago. No relief after discontinuing the drug. I found out what was causing the cramps from a knowledgeable clerk in the vitamin store I frequented for many years. I described his symptoms and she asked me one question — was he taking statin drugs? The Lipitor was leaching the CoQ10 out of his muscles. And, that it was a permanent situation, irreversible. After I gained this knowledge and threw his meds in the trash he went back to his doctor and told him what we had discovered. It was only then that his doctor admitted that it was the Lipitor. This is after sending him to multiple specialist doctors to find out what was wrong with him. I can honestly say that it ruined my relationship with my husband to the point of divorce. I know it sounds far-fetched but it’s the truth. It changed him forever. Since then, I cannot count the number of people that I personally know that had the same experience with severe cramps with no relief after they stopped taking the drug. God bless you, Patti. You will make the right decision for yourself. By the way, one of his best friends’ cholesterol levels are in 600s for many years. This man has a very poor diet with lots of takeout food, doesn’t exercise at all, it’s not a smoker, is overweight and yet he is still with us at age 80. So, I’ve said for many years that numbers do not mean anything when it comes to certain tests.
Yes what do u eat in a day‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
I would love to see what you eat in a day!
I’d love to see what you eat in a day. I no longer eat red meat. I eat a Mediterranean-ish diet ( veggies, beans, grains) and I’m ready to go full vegetarian!
I'm happy for you Patti! So long as the weight loss, wasn't from any other health issues. My husband has lost 21lbs recently. A few years ago, my husband retired, and he put on almost 60lbs. He was never overweight before. He stopped eating any sugar too. I don't know what it is, but when you get older, you crave the sweets more. I recently acquired hypothyroidism, so I gained about the same amount of weight too. The recent bloodwork also showed an elevated cholesterol level. So, until this thyroid issue is fixed, I won't be able to lose anything. Being in my 60's, I'm just now, having to take medication consistently for anything. I'm on a low dose of rosuvastatin, and in a couple of months I'll find out if it's any good. Congrats on the weight loss!
I turn 72 next month. I had a cardiac calcium test three weeks ago. My score is zero. I have no calcifications. I am a cardiothoracic surgeon, so I have some knowledge of this. Not everyone has calcifications.
Additionally, as I read a lot of the comments here, I am struck by how much misinformation is out there. I read one comment that said that if you have a very high LDL, that’s just fine. Of course, we are all different, but generally speaking that is not the case. Many of the other comments are equally somewhat off base. Find medical professionals who you trust. Establish a partnership with them. That is my best advice.
Good for you Patti for knowing not to take a statin drug. You look awesome! There are really good natural, zero calorie sugar substitutes also.. You do not have to go without anything sweet… Glad you got the CT scan to relieve your mind about the heart thing… God bless you… You are awesome!!
Vegetarianism is not healthy!!!
You look great! I love that you did this your way! The right way! Keep up the good work!
Hi Patti, you are looking lovely, as usual. I am now 91 and my cholesterol is considered high, not outrageous, but high. I will NOT take a statin! I have been into health since I was 40 and from what I read the cholesterol numbers are good on paper. My Mother had a 302 reading for her total, she lived until just before her 92 birthday and did NOT die from clogged arteries, she had a congenital hole in her heart and as she aged it stretched, so she then had COPD. My Dr. And Wellness clinic Dr. I see once a year know I won’t take anything. I too take no medication, just health supplements. My husband had open heart surgery about 7 years ago and I won’t let him take a statin, he’s 86 and doing fine. Just my opinion. Stay well. Love Senior Diva ❤️
YOU GO GIRL!!! I applaud you for doing your own research about your health. I'm 76 and healthy. I stay away from conventional medicine as much as possible. In terms of statins, I agree with your assessment. One of the doctor's whose opinions that I value is Christianne Northrup. She is an OBGYN, but more importantly, she is an advocate for and a promoter of women's health. Her holistic approach is to give your body the right tools and it will stay healthy. She has a very strong oppinion about avoiding statin drugs. Also she says that according to newer studies done, as we age, our normal blood pressure numbers are going to be higher, so they should not be measured by the same standard as say a 30 yr old. I urge all of you to check her out. She really is our advocate in a big pharma world.
79? No way!you look amazing, beautiful.
Thank you for sharing all your great information you have done the work good luck to you you have great complexion your skin looks great thank you
Theola
Can you list what you eat in a day? Thank you..
You look fabulous 🤩🥰
I just love these recommendations and I think they would be healthy for everyone….so bravo to you for promoting healthful alternatives.
May I ask what lipstick you’re wearing????
Loved this video. I have similar issues at 79 and admire your approach. I have recently lost 17 lbs from “burning mouth syndrome” post Covid. Only could eat pudding and ice cream for 7 mos and my LDL is high. Slightly better BMS now so Im going to try to reduce LDL like you with walking and diet. Thank you for inspiration.
You are beautiful in every way
I am with you Statin is a horrible drug. my husband is on it but………..
My mom never even got to 65.
Yes, do what you eat in a day
I'm 70… have had hypertension several years, even while on a anti hypertensive med.
Then one day I stumbled across an article about this very issue, it mentioned that a person with elevated numbers could very well have a magnesium deficiency. So, I added a 400 mg. 1× daily, OTC magnesium supplement.. to my surprise after just 2 weeks I started having readings in the mid 120's/ mid 70's.. from 140's/ high 80's-90's.
I'm new to your channel and I'm here to stay. So interesting and informative, thank you. Your beauty is inspirational.
Thanks soooo much for sharing today. Your suggestions are so helpful for me! Happy Holidays!!!
Hi Patti! Just found your channel. Will be 70 in May and like you no meds. Also no aches or pains. But this year have been eating way too many chips, pastries, pop. I am fully aware processed food should not be an option. Yet have been coming home from office and grabbing a processed package of some sort of rice, etc. Made a decision this week, no more!! And take it a day at a time. Looking forward to getting to know you thru your videos. Have a great Saturday! 🎄🎹🎹🤶❄️
That's great news, Patti. You look wonderful!
How did you lose it?
Niacinamide works for cholesterol. Has to be high doses.
I agree with you about stations. I will not take one. I agree with diet change and exercise.
Please don’t do statin it is a insidious drug. You have already seen good results with lifestyle changes. It is not uncommon for seniors to get elevated lipids. You are doing the right thing. I took a statin and it wiped out many memories of my past. I have lost quite a few of my memories of my precious son who passed away 12 years ago. I am heart broken from it. So reconsider all your choices for a statin. I have it listed as an allergy now. You are so encouraging to me I will respect any decision you make but wanted to share my experience.
It's a myth that eating cholesterol gives you high cholesterol. Trans fats and sugar are killing us. The labeling industry allows for some really sneaky bs so that many things look low in trans fats and sugar. Transfats and sugar are so inflammatory.
You’re gorgeous and you look much younger than 79! I hear ya on the break from Social Media. I do the same thing from time to time. Thank you for your content. Merry Christmas to you and your family!🎄❤️
Getting of added sugar is one of the best things we can do for ourselves.
Patti I have been on Statin for or since 2013 with no problems
Can you also put more make up videos. Enjoyed watching you
I'm new to your channel and I think that your terrific! You are so beautiful . I am glad that I found your channel.😊
Please share what you eat in a day!! You look great for any age! So proud of you for taking control of your life, I hope I can be as successful.Thank you for the yers of sharing your life with us! I feel like we are gf for years!🌺🌺🌺
You already have done research on statins what are you doing getting ready to take these down right poisons.
I've found since Covid began 2 years ago I have needed "comfort food." I have always had a sweet tooth but my comfort foods are Pumpkin pies. Cheesecake and Pizza. Sometimes a bowl of Raison Bran if I get hungry at beftime. I wish I could give up sweet things! I gave up granulated sugar and salt many years ago. I don't eat beef and rarely chicken. I LOVE McFlurries! Winters in Canada I hibernate. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you Pattie, I am a vegan but I don’t eat dairy, because all dairy is saturated fat and cholesterol it was hard at first giving up cheese but I did it, and I don’t miss it now. You will never have heart problems if you don’t eat saturated fat. Glad you lost the weight and looking after yourself. Hugs Bea
I haven't watched in awhile but decided to check in. You look absolutely beautiful. Your skin looks so dewy and glowing. Hopefully you'll inspire me to do something a little healthier with my lifestyle too. BTW, my doctor put me on a very low dose of statin and it helped me a lot. Previous dose drove my liver enzymes up, but the tiny dose has worked just fine. I think I'll clean off my treadmill and begin a short walking regimen. God bless you.
I started seeing a Holistic Dr 8 years ago to come off blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication. I take an all veggie supplement for both now and my bloodwork has shown they are both under control. If you are interested in either, let me know as you can buy both online without a prescription. Good job taking control of your own health. 😊
