Pro Tip: When you buy your ground beef and portion it, flatten it in the bag. Not only is it easier to stack in your freezer, but because of the greater surface area it defrosts far more quickly.

Karen, this worked fabulously! I freeze my ground beef in half pound packages and following your instructions, I didn't have any Frozen parts to the meat. I was able to chop them apart with a wooden spoon and saute the one pound EASILY! Thank you so much for this great tip and video! I tell other instapot owners about you regularly. 😁

As a Microwave heats from the inside to out and Heat Based heats from the outside to i, perhaps a combination of the two woulf be an interesting experiment? Whichever way there is boung to be SOME cooking taking place, that is the way of things.

If I need crumbled ground beef and it’s frozen, I just put it in the frying pan (I guess putting it in IP on sauté would work as well) and scrape the browned meat as it cooks from the frozen chunk until it is all brown and crumbled. Your method would be better if you were going to need the meat whole to shape into patties or HB steaks. Great video! Thanks for the tip. 😊
