This was full of very useful info.
Thank you!
I'm not a gravy maker. Just an eater. Found the Primal Kitchen Classic Gravy made with turkey bone broth. Clean ingredients. All it needed to make it delicious was some Redmon salt. I was about to add some and noticed my Organic Seasoned Salt that has a chicken flavor. That did it. Yum. There mushroom gravy was on sale at Whole Foods I haven't tried it yet but I bet it needs the organic season salt too.
Turkey soup is my favourite way to eat turkey! Great to see this video.
Awwww Rachel is such a good partner π
Can you makes the bones in a crock pot or something? I don't have a pressure canner.
Umm.. I'm not sure about turkey bones.. but I ate turkey in Vegas this year so.. lol
My hubby tossed my giblets and neckπ«π«π«
This makes me want to ask my sister for the turkey carcass today.π
Lol Rachael eating bones!!! I got my idea before you even posted I told myself that Iβm going to make soup with leftover meat cause I always have some left!
Dr Berry will be proud of rachael!!
I make chicken and turkey soup this way but I use an immersion blender to blend the meat and broth, add a bit of butter. Itβs thick and rich. Best soup ever
Great video. I do this with chicken as well. I save enough carcasses (usually 4 -5) in my freezer, fill my pot and process the same way. Love to see the safe canning methods also. π
I never knew that we can eat the bones. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Make yourself some egg wrap noodles and add them to this and I think it would make it that much better or some PSMF rolls! I love that you guys use the whole animal.
Would have never thought of doing this. Thanks for the information
I love turkey soup.
Does it have to be a pressure cooker
Never seen someone chow down on bones like that before – fair play to you
I ways book time at the cannery when I want to do meat or soup they help you do bulk canning and they also do metal can canning. Which I love because no worry about breakage
Rachel cracks me up βput your top on!β Also love that she eats bonesβ¦wow!
We have always done this with our turkey learned from my grandmother, no waste tyty
Great video! We never had to worry about the tail, that was was the first thing my Grams would cut off and chow down on, at the time we grand kids would say "oh gross". One smart Lady!
Mom always called it Rock Soup! We always made bone broth growing up and ate nose to tail so this is not new to me. Trying to teach my nieces and nephews to do this now. Everyone needs to know how to do this.
Thanks for sharing this. I would never have thought you could eat any bones like this. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Have a great turkey day!!
Canβt wait to try this
You said beef bones don't do that but I have cooked mine with a lil vinegar & salt for 2-3 days in the crockpot & they were just like that… crumbly & mushy.
Is there anything about the beef bones that would be less good? As long as they are to that point of breakdown… right?
Have The Best Thanksgiving EVER!! You deserve it!
OK, I have 2questions… you use the pressure canner and you said you had them in there for 75 minutes when it comes out is it totally vacuum sealed inside or do you have to tighten anything or is it totally already as tight as it needs to be? The other question is okay on a turkey the tail usually has a bunch of quills still stuck in that knob when you pressure cook that do they dissolve or do you pick those out of the tail end?
