I just bought my first Instant Pot yesterday, March 17, 2021. The Seal/Vent button isn't working. I made rice for my first meal and it let steam out the whole time. My rice was hard and the burn notice came on. The seal/vent button is just flailing about. How do I make it click into place?

Please please please wash your rice. It is an extra step that you will thank me later for. Remove the extra starch, any non rice particles that may be in the bag, and when you wash and soak your rice prior to cooking it….perfection.

Was there a part 2 to this video? Why does it feel like it just got cut off randomly? How do you release and what about the middle brown rice one? I was looking for this method of cooking rice to see how its done.

This video and your help frightens me… here's why: I'm an older single-dad. I love to cook, but do not cook very well (its fun, even if it doesn't turn out right). I have spent the last few years building up my kitchen with a crockpot, zojirushi (expensive) rice cooker, some woks, various pots and pans for soups and such, and now have an IP. I fear I now have a kitchen full of useless expensive gadgets collecting dust… Darn IP! Why you gotta be so great!?

This is such a stupid question I know. Just got my instant pot (it’s a Mickey Mouse one) if I get the burn notice and have to add more water , I know I add more water. So do I hit cancel , quick pressure release , add water , then start cooking again? If I cancel and say it calls to cook for 7 mins and I already cooked 3 mins in, do I restart the time or start it for just the other 4 mins?
