I just discovered a hometown restaurant that sells the hambones from the ham they prepare – such a great resource, since I live alone and don't really make myself hams! This recipe is so straight forward and explained really well.
I really wanna say “wtf? Frozen celery?” But now I’m going to try it.
You throw out the best parts of ham, what a waste.
Add some chopped rutabaga in there would be tasty….Maybe some cabbage too. Good stuff.

The gelatinous bits don't have to be thrown. They might be an acquired taste but they're actually very nutritious and delicious for those used to collagen rich soups.
