If you get a cheap store brand smoked sausage like off brand Hillshire Farm and a chopped up onion and that seasoning packet and throw it in the crockpot with enough water to cover it by a few inches, in the morning, you can come home after work in the winter to a good hot supper. We eat it with a few carrots and celery sticks on the side. It's wonderful.

My mama used to make this for us. There was 6 of us and she really new how to stretch a doller. I never knew it was a packet that made it taste like she had ham in there. I'm not really a big cooker but you make it look so much easier to do. This is definitely a good place to start. I will let you no how they turn out.
