    It might be a thing to consider; salt, the "excessive" consumption of (the dose makes the poison, I suppose), has been implicated in the formation of stomach and GI cancers, leading me to choose to keep my food unsalted when I feel it doesn't absolutely need it.

    I mean, I don't use NO salt, but I did reduce my daily intake of added salt from a teaspoon, to about a quarter teaspoon, from a concern about alimentary canal cancers. Gut cancers have killed every man on my father's side of the family for over 100 years, except my father, who died of another type of cancer. So, I'm REAL vigilant about it; now that I think about it, I should probably reduce the salt even more. I eat cruciferous veggies at every meal, and I always try to maximize the fiber and water content, too. Lots of fiber, here. About 100 grams a day.
