I love how you say a smidge of liquid smoke and then say "half a teaspoon" 🙈 I usually only use a few drops (e.g., in Hummus. And people do notice the flavor and comment on it tasting good).
But I'm also not the biggest fan of smoky flavors. 😅 (never liked ham, or our German Schinken 🤢)

I have a new roommate, who formerly lived with and cooked for 7 people. She has been having a hard time getting used to only cooking for 2 people. She was going to make a pasta dish and was telling me I needed a bigger stock pot. I was like Huh? I've done fine with the pots I have for years! The problem was that she was trying to cook enough pasta to feed an army, so the problem was not the size of the pot, but the amount of food she was making! I convinced her to only use one bag of pasta instead of two, and it was enough to have leftovers for days….
Beans (Anasazi or pinto), chickpeas, rice, tofu, nutritional yeast, spices of all kinds, canned tomatoes.
I also always buy my nutritional yeast from a local store with bulk goods. I buy lots of other things there too, like flours and spices.
