Looks good! Wow, that's cold. Where do you live?
Wonderful! Great vlog, loved the tofu recipe! So simple!
I get excited over tofu. I love the taste and texture. It's fun to cook and season. Pan-fried tofu is my current favorite food!! 😋
Hi Chris! It's so nice to see you cook tofu like the old school vegan zombie vid from the early days. I Love that recipe. The tofu stays firm and is satisfying.
Are you OK? You look puffy? Gained weight? Medical issue? If I missed something I’m sorry. I just hope all is well with you.
your tofu looked amazing we just got 8in of snow in chi town its headed yr way 😉 loving the vlogs👍
How many ounces was that block of tofu? The stuff I have access to doesn't look like that, it's the same it's just half the size it looks like
The final scene with the snow falling was so pretty.. That was a great gift and a great recipe ! I'm actually fond of black walnuts in baked goods, try that🐾❄🐾
❄️🥶
I am loving these vlogs soooo much. The fire burning and the beautiful scenery – looks idyllic! I know it may not feel it when you’re stuck in the snow and it’s minus 6! But you make freezing conditions look good lol! 😎
Hope you’re all keepin safe n warm 🙏🏼💚🧣❄️
Chris…at the end of this video, you showed a tree in the moonlight. It looks like a wolf silhouette. Then the wind blew and made the wolf look as though it was snarling…lol.
Black walnut is supposed to be really good for cancer from what I've heard
Yum. Love tofu. Used to hate it, then learned how to properly make it… yum! Still a fav of mine.
🥶🥶🥶
Hey, Chris. Yes, the skins of the black walnuts have a bitter, musty taste. They’re great mixed with TVP or lentils to make a taco or sloppy joe filling.
My grandmother used to make things with black walnuts because there was a tree on her farm. I only remember her black walnut cake. I've never liked the taste because as you said, they are a little "funky" in smell and taste. Thanks for demo on making a tofu dish. I need to use my new tofu press and get some practice cooking tofu because I've barely scratched the surface of all the things tofu can do. As for rice, my Filipino friend who loved rice 24/7 gave us a Panasonic rice cooker for our wedding 33 years ago and it still is going strong! When it stops working, I would buy another rice cooker because it makes perfect rice and the convenience makes it worth the cost. Forgot to say that I have a black walnut tree and am loved by squirrels. They are annoying trees to have on your property. The squirrels fill up our shed with the nuts–used to fill our snow tires with them in the fall when we stored the tires there. You have to pick up walnuts all the time to mow the lawn and if you accidentally step on one when the flesh is still on the outside of the nut, you can slip and hurt yourself. But, a fun historical fact is that you can boil them and make a brown colored ink if you run out of ink and have a quill or fountain pen, lol. Handling them, especially if your hands are wet/sweaty or whatever, can stain your hands brown for a few days. But fun fact–when my kids were young they said that nuts that split open looked like little tiki faces!
We’re on Long Island and we’re waiting for the Nor’Easter too!
That was so lovely of Tamara to send you those walnuts. I loved the look you gave us right after the throwback "What's in the box?" moment 🙂 And it's always special when Rachel makes an appearance. Maybe when the weather is a bit friendlier, I think it would be awesome to see you walk around your property at night. You could get a Blair Witch vibe happening 🙂
I read before that black walnuts are deadly to dogs..just a heads up.
I kind of miss really cold winter days. I can understand why Zeke might enjoy sitting in the window- great view! I also enjoy walnuts. Maybe black walnuts would be good cooked in a burger or vegan meatballs?
How is Indy’s mouth doing? What temp did you cook Tofu on and for how long? Did you flip half way in oven? Thanks! Looks so good!
S TAY WARM and SAFE my friend! PUPS too of course! Sending sunny hugs from Florida!
Have never heard of black walnuts glad you shown what they were. What a wonderful way to cook tofu.
I also used to live in frozen NJ now I’m enjoying sunny California 😎
Tofu looks great how long was it in the oven?
I love cooking tofu in the skillet. A week ago, I burned my hand while turning it. The olive oil splashed on me. It's healing though. Thanks for this recipe. How long do you bake it in the oven? ~Buzz Killer, Talking Zombie From Western Pennsylvania
Have you tried soaking walnuts, they are so much sweeter and less bitter than normal.
I like how Tamara went eco friendly with the packaging.
I thought you said pelau for a minute. A Trinidadian dish 😃. Wasn’t there a cartoon called Cat Dog lol. We have tons of black walnut trees here. They also sell them organic at Mom’s. $14.99 a pound I think 😬. But they’re pretty good. They’re supposed to have better nutrients. Your tofu looks so good. I have one block left. Might try it!
