Remember: 1/2 cup quinoa needs 3/4 cup water. Add one cup water to the bottom of the pressure cooker. Cook with HIGH pressure. Set timer for 1 minute.
Can you season it while it's cooking in the instant pot? Or do you season afterwards?
Thank you so much … you are the reason I have 2 I-pots.
What size mason jar?
Why too complicated and unnecessary for good quinoa …
Great Job…
I used red quinoa, but I set it to 2 minutes, turned it off, and then let it set for 10 minutes…wonderful..perfectly cooked.
I have ADHD and cooking is a challenge! I could walk in another room to pick up my charged phone and start cleaning out a closet only to be reminded of the stove disaster by the smoke alarm. I hate being tied to the kitchen so cooking was hated… until the Instant Pot came into my life!! 🙂
What if no Mason jar or bowl? My bowls are ceramic or plastic.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful teaching information video and tips on how to cook 👩🍳 quinoa.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👋🏻🙏🙏🙏
Failed! I am using my brand new Ipot Ultra. I used the bowl in bowl. was the fail due to the filtered refrigerator water I used? Too cold?
She so crazy
She’s hiiiiiilarious
love that southern drawl. great video!
Why not soak the measured quinoa directly in the jar and pour off liquid with strainer against jar rounded side into jar? might work a bit better.im going to do ithis method with three jars.quinoa, brown rice and maybe teff or oats.my jars are taller so instead of wire ill use silicone pad at bottom.
Buying me the time of not babysitting the pot is worth it to me!
A wide mouth funnel is your friend!
Oh for gods sake. I’m standing here with the pot. Goidbye
Thank you for sharing this recipe : )
so it necessary to do pip for quinoa to turn out best?
Jill, i love your videos. You are a real pleasure. Now my question for this class is about the "new generation" thingee. How do you turn off the keep warm before you have turned the cooker on? You'll probably come back with "Charlie, you dummy," but the fact is I'm confused. So help me out, darlin.
Hi jill! Do you have to put it in a bowl or mason jar? I always thought you jisy put it right in but does this cook better?! Also would a glass bowl work? Thank you so much!! I've been using a ipot for about two years but never knew the best way to use it so I'm learning about rice, beans and quinoa!!
Oh no – don't know what happened. It did not work. Followed your directions exactly and it did not absorb the water. I did the mason jar method. Ideas??
Use a wide-mouth funnel to put your quinoa in the mason jar.
what is 3quartz cup in british measurements
😇💜😇
youre an awesome lady. i love making quinoa in my instant pot and i came across ur video. i loveee mason jars and i was so happy that u included cooking in a mason jar. have u tried cooking it in a quart size jar or more than one jar ? i cook mine for 1 min and keep it on keep warm for natural pressure for 15 mins for my 1 cup recipe.
Can I just put it in the regular pot like this? Do I have to use another container?
Thanks for this video. I have always cooked my quinoa in a rice cooker, but now I will use my IP. And, I've heard about rinsing your quinoa, but never knew why, because it taste fine to me without washing it first. Now, I will rinse it, and see if I like it better. I always learn something new when I watch your videos! / About the mess when getting the rinsed quinoa into the jar, perhaps using a soup spoon would be a neater way to transfer it.
Will you do a video about how to make soups and stews with quinoa and no recipe? I love to not have to use a recipe and I want to get better at it 🙂
Awesome!!!
Hi my instant pot does not have a yogurt setting do u think I could still use it on a slow cook setting thanks
Hi Jill! Thank you for all of your great videos! I'm trying to find a way to make rice and steamed veggies at the same time in my Instant Pot. The veggies will only take a minute or two, so I'm trying to figure out if I could open the instant pot before the rice is done (maybe at 20 minutes instead of 22 for brown rice), then add veggies, let it regain pressure and then cook for another minute? But then if I use the slow pressure release, it might overcook the veggies. Maybe I put the veggies after the pressure has gone down on it's own, and the keep the lid closed for a few minutes and it might have the effect of steaming? What do you think?
An awesome idea is in the rice cooker too 🙂
I thought you homeschooled.
Ok, I just tried this! Although I feel like mine came to pressure much quicker and when the 10 minutes of rest was up there was no pressure to be released. I opened my Ipot and all the water was still in the mason jar. I put it back in for another minute of cooking, we will see if it works this time. Love your channel!!!
Have you cooked rice using this method? For me the big benefit would be using a time delay so it's hot and fresh when I get home. Also, I'm ready to buy my 1st IPOT and I'm debating between the 6 and 8 quart models. How would the 8qt model change your recipes if you are using the 6qt model? Thanks!
prefect I'm gonna make HCH's vegan chicken sandwiches … and quinoa is one of the main ingredients!
Get your Groove Thing, indeed!
I just made some red quinoa, on the stovetop. If I was "cooking in bulk" to freeze, I would use the iPot. As for rinsing, I've found it depends on the brand…some really need rinsing, some don't. If I buy it in bulk, it always needs a good rinse/soak. I will use my iPot to cook rice/grains/beans "in bulk" for the freezer, because it will take less time and make less of a mess….
Ooooh, I found a really good cookbook….VEGAN UNDER PRESSURE by Jill Nussinow…that covers the basics of Pressure Cooking and seasoning…and has great recipes, to boot…and it's pretty to look at……Keep on cookin', Jill…
