OH WOW ! I am so impressed Leah. You have incredible ideS ! And what a great trip. I ♥ Cottage Cheese and fruit.

I used to mix Instant Coffee, Sugar and Dry Milk into a container amounts for 1 cup then multiplied by how many I wanted. Save me alot of money . Now I save even more as I no longer use sugar in my coffee, have reduced the # of cups I drink, purchase instant from the Dollar Tree [ the jars are great for food storage or crafts ], and use Soy Milk.

My 2 aunts, my grandma and I went to Pigeon Forge TN once a year. When all of us no longer worked we went during the week which saved us money on the hotel. The first year we stayed at one hotel with a kitchen we took a crockpot and we made pintos while we were out. My aunt had mixed up cornbread when we realized we only had a stove top but no oven. So we fried cornbread cakes. Breakfast was free and we made sandwiches for lunch. The memories were priceless.

I need to be better about using the instant pot. So great how much you got made. I always look for a place with a kitchen because we prefer home cooked food on vacation too. I always pack in big bags but I like the big tube idea. Super yummy and I totally guessed turkey cookies but yours were beautiful!

You are amazing!!! And a girl after my own heart, for sure!! My kids are college-age now, but we did a lot of hotel stays when they were young, and I always packed a ton of food to eat as much as possible in our hotel room. Even if sticking to a budget isn't an issue, with little ones, it's tough to have to go out for every single meal/snack, especially coffee/breakfast after a busy/long day and the kiddos aren't ready to roll out, but they're hungry. I'll give you 100pts for taking your coffee maker because that's a must for me. Most hotels have coffee makers, but I'd def take mine if ours didn't have one!!! Great job!!!!

I wish I still had that percolator It still worked after 40 years where my Keurig is 8 yrs old and is where sometimes it works and sometimes does not. I think my sister got it.

In college my sister, friends and I would go stay in hotel that had kitchen in the rooms. We loved this one in particular because it was right on the beach. One time we called to make reservations and they only had just a regular room left. So I said we can still stay there. I asked my mother for her old percolator and we brought an ice chest full of breakfast items( fruit, bottled orange juice, cooked sausage patties, bacon, biscuits, bread, lunch meat, washed lettuce, tomatoes and condiments that my mother always saved ( packets from fast food places) and of course snacks and drinks. We would treat ourselves to eating out one time a day, since we were in Florida and we wanted to try out their fresh seafood. Yes we could have cooked it in the room, but the walk to the dumpster to throw away shrimp shells was quite a walk and the crockpots or electric pans back them would have been extremely hard to wash( crockpot liner would not lift out to wash and No plastic liners back then). On one trip, two sisters brought a beautiful baked ham and very large chocolate cake for us to feast on! We iced that ham down very well and treated it and the cake like a king and queen! Lol

This was so great to see! We try to do similar things to save on money. We usually try to stay in a hotel with breakfast offered, but sometimes it isn't feasible. And a house rental can be pricey, too. We tend to bring our own snacks along or stop at a local store if we fly somewhere to get items like fresh fruit, water, and the like to store in our fridge in the room. I also try to take along a few keurig cups or the Starbucks instant coffee packets, and I usually have some liquid creamer cups or purchase a small bottle of creamer when I get to our hotel. I even took these items to Europe so I could make my coffee!

I have found that being a "rewards" member at some chains gives us some perks. Hilton Honors, for example, often gives us bottles of water complimentary for being members. And they offer breakfast at most of their chains (I think Double Tree doesn't). We often stay at their hotels. We also like to stay at one's with kitchenettes for trips longer than a weekend because we can save money by having breakfast and lunch at our hotel, and sometimes more.

I put my collegan in my coffee also.

It's usually only a couple of us who go on vacation and I usually get it down to eating out once a day. Most my hotels have breakfast and I'll either eat snacks (pepperoni, cheese, chips, etc) for lunch or eat a late lunch like at 3 o'clock and it will be the one meal of the day. We usually eat at a real restaurant and have left overs so we will snack on them later in the night. We will also split a meal when we go out to cut the cut. We set aside about $30 a day for 2 to eat. I understand it's got to be harder with kids. U do a great job.
I really really hate it when a hotel doesn't have a microwave in the room.
