Our local salvage store closed a few years ago. I never find good food deals at Ollies or Big Lots like some people seem to find. Buying the basics to MAKE things like cereal bars and homemade Dunkaroos is the route I have to resort to.

Great prices! I need to find a store like that here. I would have bought that expired secret too. The worse thing with stuff like that is whether it's as effective. I bought a multipack of fruit cups well within the best buy date and the pack of peaches looked completely sealed but only had about half the peaches and zero juice. The rest looked fine but I tossed all of them
Best by dates are not expiration dates. Not a criticism at all–it is just such a waste that so many think that. Saving money would be for starters not throwing things out that don't expire or go bad and paying to replace them. Videos like this will help that. Great video.
The only expiration date that I care about are for diary products, refrigerated juices and eggs and fresh meat.
Can goods and dry goods I will buy.

Expiration dates are more "suggestions". I'm with you regarding expiration dates on well packaged dry goods.

Wowww! You got some amazing deals! Your poor pup lol my dog, sheβs a German Shepherd, got stung by a bee once. It was on a walk and I didnβt know it at the time it was a bee sting- I thought maybe she twisted her leg because she was running, yelped and then refused to walk. Needless to say, $400 and an emergency vet visit laterβ¦it turned out to be a bee sting π π€£ I was just glad she was OK.
My two oldest girls loved those small deodorant ball things. I remember spending around $5 each for them (it was their birthday money). Reminded me of those Eos lip balms. Kept joking with them to be sure they didn't put deodorant on their lips π. Expired deodorant is fine to use.
Great haul today. Wow… the price on the large size Trix is awesome!! When I was growing up that was my mom's favorite cereal. All of us kids knew not to touch her cereal π.

Fantastic salvage haul. We do have a few discount stores. I can never catch them when their open. The hours change often.
The closest discount store to me is about hour away with very limited selections. Not worth it to me.
