You are so correct. My husband is not keto, but he supports me all the way. Luckily for me he's not a big sweet eater. I am going through the same thing. I recently retired and between that and covid I gained about 24 lbs. I'm back on strict keto and am losing a bit, but its slower and was not as " exciting " for me either. BUT, I made myself try on my summer clothes and it gave me the wakeup call I think will help. Good luck Janet, but stay calm about it and just do your best. We're here with you for the long haul! my low carb journey has been 3 years and I lost 50+ pounds, almost all in the first few months. As I am 76 with multiple diagnosises and so I am happy to be healthier than every before, and I am staying in a 5 pound range, up and down each day. I would to loe another 50 but as long as meds are decreasing and I feel good, I willnot let the scal beat me down.

I don't buy Keto products that are already processed. I like Re-lyte but it makes my sugar go up, I do alright adding crystal light to my water. You have to find your on way, we all are different and foods affect each one of us different. Find what's good for you and stick with it, also give it some time and it will pay off in the long run.

Janet, the struggle is real! I hope you will not be hard on yourself during this time, because you don’t need that extra cortisol. My greatest success with keto comes when I am ruthless about focusing on the protein, and drinking my electrolytes. Tons of protein just turns off carb cravings and hunger signals, which makes everything just a bit easier ❤️

I feel the same I’m addicted to sweets, food in general. I am trying carnivore but I think the secret to feeling more energy happy and less carb craving is eating higher fat so what I have been doing last 3 days I fry up lots of pork belly from Costco. They come in strips so I cut each strip into finder size, fry them in a stainless steel pot to the crispness you like and I eat them when hungry just before eating my meal of other meats , eggs .So far I have lost 3 lb this week feel happy more energy. I’m staying off all sugar substitutes veggies and fruit. Sometime your body needs a change, good luck🥰

Instead of looking at this as a "diet" look at it as the proper way of eating. Change the mind set to doing it for good health and not weight loss. Sometimes a simple mental twist can help your focus away from weight loss. which will come naturally when the body heals by eating simple one ingredient foods like meat and low carb veggies. Keep sharing all your insights, we all learn so much from each other. Thank you for your videos

My father passed at 50 from drinking… I don't know if I agree food addiction is the same as an alcohol addiction. The reason I believe this is because, I think if you eat enough protein per meal, you won't feel cravings the same way. I thought I was a food addict too until recently when I quit keto. I started implementing under 40 carbs per meal. I feel great!!! I make sure it's all natural carbs. I am sorry you're feeling discouraged. I am following Dr Gabrielle Lyons advice on focusing on a per meal basis instead of total daily macros. It's really working for me! I still have to make sure I'm being responsible, but I live being able to have a small amount of carbs that do NOT cause me any inflammation. Like, I don't eat bananas often because they cause me inflammation, but I can have potatoes. I hope you don't hate me for suggesting this, just my experience.

Hang in there, Janet. Retiring is a big thing & even though you are happy to do it, it’s very emotional. I know you are still working but this job is different than a 30 hour week you’ve been doing for years. In one of your last videos you even talked about having to change the way you store your leftovers because you aren’t going out to work. I’m completely with you about summer & I live in S California 🥵; not looking forward to it 💜

I do think we have to keep reminding ourselves of where we came from and our future health with every calorie and carb. Consistency is key. Today I'm a little bloated and I have denied myself for two days to stay under 1,500 calories. I want to eat a plate full of real spaghetti so bad. But, no no no. I really don't want to fall off the wagon, it's too hard to get back on. Just push through it and I know tomorrow the bloating will be gone and the last two days will have yielded a weight loss. Don't give up.

Sticking to plan 1 shake for breakfast and if I'm really hungry a protein bar too.. Lunch same thing – this is for at work during the week, then I come home and either eat something I meal prepped or make a couple of low carb sandwiches.. just to make sure I'm getting all my calories in. I do pack snacks but I'm never hungry enough to eat them, In fact tomorrow one of my chia puddings is my lunch tomorrow.

We're in a small office yet it's big enough for me and the other gal in there to actually walk paths in .. I get about 2000 steps a day walking from my desk to the front door of the office.. I do about 500 steps in 5 minutes so I try to do that a couple times a day and then maybe another 15 minutes after lunch so it's probably closer to 3000 which considering I've not worked out in a while is pretty good.. so far so good on plan.. You are capable Janet my friend. Love to you, Jimmy and the girls and your pets too! I probably will stick with this on weekends too.

Janet I’m right there with you. I have been low-carb/keto basically since the 1970,s off and on. I was off plan in the 80s and got up to my top weight of over 200 and manage to lose that. After that with being off and on I did manage to stay between 135 and 145 which is fine for me. But having said that it’s always been a struggle for me I love good food and I love going out to eat and nice places. I love trying new things. Luckily I’m not into fast food or junk food and for the most part all these years I’ve been off of sugar. Looking back I see where it was easier for me to stay more on plan when I was working and it wasn’t quite such a struggle till 2015 when I retired in 2015. I also have been trying to get on track and follow what I know what works for me and I’ve been more dirty keto/Low-carb and cannot drop 10 pounds I need to drop. I live in Florida in the scorching hot here and very hard for me to walk in the summer even early in the morning and late at night so I have to get a plan for that. I do go to yoga twice a week if possible. All we can do is hang in there as I know for myself I do not want to go down the rabbit hole of bad health Ever again. Thanks so much for your vlogs and recipes and sharing your family life with all of us. Keep up the good work you probably don’t realize it but do you do impact my life and my mental health. I appreciate you.

I understand and it can be frustrating. Do you think the difference is you no longer go someplace else to work? You don't have to drive that drive to and from work. You don't answer to anyone else. I think this will pass. You already began a work schedule. A place to work and now you are in charge. Janet, you've got this. It hasn't been that long. Give it time. 💚☘️

I'm sorry you are feeling a bit down. But, let me tell you, I LOVE your honesty and vulnerability. I am always a bit cautious whenever someone is always super pumped, always on track, and loving it all the time. Maybe it's the pessimist in me…but I tend to doubt they are being honest….and so then I question everything they say. I beleive in you, Janet, you worked hard and got amazing results….and you will find your way again…weather it's the same way or another…and I am so happy that you share your journey with us. 🙂

I am new to your channel! I am so glad that I found you through the Fab 4. 🙂 I am struggling so much right now-the stressors are really high. We have adopted 2 disabled children in 2009 (in addition to our 4), and it is very stressful. I don't have many people to talk to since I am a tad isolated. Anyhoo-I am just trying to make small changes, and even those seem so hard.

I completely get it. I started at 300 lbs 3 years ago. I lost 110 lbs in 10 months by eating keto/low carb. The first 3 months I was regular keto. After that I stalled and realized the high fat was too much for me and I adjusted to higher protein keto/low carb. I think I got burnt out on being so restrictive and I started letting too many keto sweets and treats and snacks creep in. I started allowing myself to have a little of this and a little of that. That caused me to gain back about 20 lbs. I have since lost some of that but it is so hard. I feel like in the beginning it was so easy. I felt great. I am definitely a food addict. I think in the beginning I was also addicted to the amazing progress I was having. Now it feels so hard to do. I struggle so much compared to how I did before. Planning everything you put in your mouth a day ahead of time sucks lol. I am at the point recently where I am tracking and planning like usual but I am not stressing myself about the weight loss. I am eating right and doing what I need to do and it is slowly coming back off. I have started some walking and light exercise. I hope you know you are not alone in this. I understand exactly how you feel. Keep your head up and try not to stress about the weight loss part of it. Try to focus on the being healthy part of it and if you need to make minor adjustments here and there, give it time to see how your body reacts. You know what to do. You got this. Hang in there.

You are at a different place now from where you used to be. Not as heavy. Not working. When I stopped working my mind became much freer to overthink. Plus you are committed to make this your career. You are a coach. You have actually more weight on your shoulders. So many watching. So many dependent on your success. You just give yourself some grace. You know the how and what to do. YOU GOT THIS!!

The same old same old get a discouraging. When you get the hang of something it's becomes routine then it just gets boring. If we were talking about any job it would be called burn out. Newer and better things are on the horizon and hopefully it will inspire you. Even though being on keto is different than any other diet, I understand it's a lifestyle, it IS another diet. You have to keep track of what you are taking in whether it's electrolytes, fat, protein, etc. I think if you were to think of future ways to expand your teaching and sharing your knowledge as in a meet and greet luncheon or mini conference get together where you can come in personal contact with those you have helped and inspired it would spark the creativity and renew your excitement. There are so many venues coming up that you might want to attend, one in Vegas if you were able to. It will also help expand your endeavors with your channel.
