The "use it all up" video I mention isn't finished yet, but it'll be up this week so turn on your notifications so you don't miss it when its up!
It’s called a Mirepoix….carrots, celery and onions 🙂
I have never tested fruits or veggies in the store. To many GERMS!!
And if that woman from TikTok is not paying for the food, she ate then she is stealing. End of discussion. I used to talk to kids and elementary school because I worked at a grocery store and none of the children thought that she was stealing, but when I asked them, did she pay for it no that it becomes stealing
I finally picked up that scrubber from the dollar tree and let me tell you the amount of dirt that I can now scrub off of my potatoes is unbelievable so people if you haven’t got that scrubber from dollar tree make the trip it is worth it
I don’t taste at the store. To dirty and I do think it’s stealing but everyone makes their own choices. I love your prep videos
I agree, I totally cannot handle things on my counter. They are literally almost empty, and absolutely have to be clean!
My husband does taste one grape each time because he is incredibly particular about them, but I do think that your comments have encouraged me to discourage him!
I will try organic grapes . I just dig down into the bag.
I Like to ask the produce person to ask for a sample.
No, I haven't taste tested produce that I have not purchased and washed !!
I have worked in the grocery business on and off since 1979. I'm with you on this one…. my produce must be washed before I consume it. I won't go into detail, but just trust me on this one…. ask anyone who has been in this business…. I guarantee you they don't graze in the grocery store. 🤢
Are you thinking of Mise en place, “putting in place”? I like to have everything ready to go before I cook. Like tonight for my soup, lol the veggies were chopped, seasoning out with measuring spoons, etc….sometimes pre-measured.
As far as taste testing, I can understand a grape bc those can be sour, but I don’t do it bc it’s gross. Now “tasting testing” a lot of stuff sounds like a five finger discount snack; that’s not my thing. Buy it, try it move on. If you tried a couple raspberries from a package and didn’t buy them, that’s definitely not cool bc those things are expensive! But again, I try my hardest to mind my own business lol I try 😂
Anything sold by the pound is theft.
I don't eat anything to taste test. My hubby does it and it grosses me out, because of germs too
I put almost everything in my dishwasher. Great video!
I would only taste test at my local farmer's market after being offered (they put out samples and my local farmer's market's guy knows me very well so yeah, he usually even lets me taste stuff that is new and exotic etc). Most of the time, it's also only possible with fruits since they tend to taste differently from time to time…
In a supermarket I would never do this due to pesticides, herbicides, 848292 people having touched it before + even though I believe grocery stores are stealing from us because of their superhigh prices to make profit (yup..), I do think it's not because they do this, we should do it too. I don't want to steal so I don't taste test and I teach my child, soon children because 27w preggo 😍, that it's inappropriate!
Looking forward to your use it all up video ^_^
I consider taste testing stealing.
If a person is handing out samples to taste that’s completely different.
I’ve seen people open a packet of maybe blueberries to eat one, close it up and pick a different packet. Disgraceful
I’m just like you. I will not taste test produce in the store. So disgusting and unsanitary!
I definitely taste grapes @ list ONE
I have such a strong opinion about eating food you haven't paid for when you can afford to pay but then I remember how unimportant it is in my life to care about what other people are doing ESP if they know they are doing it for the reaction. Deep breath, focus on me haha! Not letting it change my mood today!
I used to work in the produce dept at a grocery store and I was told that customers are allowed to test produce if they wish. I was also told that I could test it also to give my opinion to any customer looking for sweet or sour etc tasting fruit .
Mirepoix…I believe is t he name you're looking for in French for diced onions, carrots and celery
So how much was she taste testing? Like a grape? A green bean? I don't consider that stealing. Walking through the store eating the bag is a no. When I was a kid we use to sneak and eat the grapes while my mom was shopping. I never let my kids do it though 😂.
I had so many times during pregnancy when I didn't feel like myself so I totally get that. Run with the days where you feel like you and live it up!
I have always taught my kids to never eat in a grocery store. We have made it a habit to not shop hungry. It cuts down on crying and begging for snacks in the store and it also cuts down on the need to get fast food while we're out. Of course we're far from perfect so I still do try to keep some snacks in the car.
Stealing then eating unwashed produce? Wrong!
Thank you Miranda 😊
Taste testing grapes would not be classified as stealing. Most people are going to try one, and then buy it. Half of America would be arrested if this were the case. Now if you carry around produce in the store eating it, then don’t buy it; well that is a different case.
If produce is weighed, it is stealing if you don't pay first. However, if a person tried 1 grape, it isnt the best,, but to make the produce section your unwashed buffet? Inappropriate. (To be clear, I don't sample grapes or anything bc i think it's wrong and also gross). My kid opened a banana one time and ate it before I noticed. (It was in a kiddie cart where you couldn't see your kids unless you leaned down). I was so embarrassed, and I asked how I could pay for it. And they were so nice. I felt so bad
I pre weight the veggies and get a label so for me to snack on them after that no. If she did not do that then it is stealing straight up it's not yours until you pay for it and eating fruit and veggies prior to washing is asking to get sick 🤢
Okay, I don't "taste test/snack" on anything in the store…even samples. My mother (A woman born in the early 1900's) always washed everything we ate…plus, she told me it was stealing to take anything without buying it. She was a use what you have and be happy type of lady.
Yuck! I would not be sampling the produce in the store. It needs to be washed for one and two it’s theft. Not cool! I am a major germaphobe. I still wear a glove when I pump gas because the pumps are so gross to me. 😊
You are glowing ♥️
I do not taste test the produce at the store. I agree it is stealing
Worked in a grocery store for 22 years. It is theft and just nasty eating it not washed. Yuck!
Eating produce at a store before paying for it is not only stealing is 🤢 gross!! How many hands have touch it ?
Gross… Nope I do NOT eat it at the store. That is theft and just dang touched by many.
Not sampling in the store. If I want it I buy it and taking it home and wash it. How many people have touched it?
I haven't been here in a while. You are glowing and you look so cute. So happy for you and your husband starting a family.
Blessings. 🙏
Had to come back and say eating produce thar is paid for by the pound is stealing. I have tried a grape now and then but it's not my favorite thing to do. I think it's gross because so many people touch produce.
Taste testing is truthfully stealing!
No ,because it’s disgusting,so many times I see Women coming out of the bathroom and They don’t wash their hands, and walk around the produce and touch everything 🤮
If you eat food you didn't pay for it's stealing, plus the produce is so dirty, even the water that randomly sprays on the produce is not drinkable.
If you eat it before paying it is stealing.
