Here in the UK we are very fond of putting mashed potatoes onto just about any kind of pie. This dish would be lovely with mashed potato. And if you have any kind of mashed root veg to put in with it to stretch out the potato, so much the better! Leftover carrots, swedes or some leftover greens mixed in with the potato.

That dish looks like a first heart attack to someone over 50, but memories is does bring. I would love to have it with some dried potato "helper" also. Great option. Thank you.

Can you taste test an adult version by adding 1 Tablespoon fresh minced onion, and 2 Tablespoons minced poblano. Do others out there who freeze dry such vegs, I would think rehydrating while cooking would be flavorfully awesome. Boy would I like to serve it with another one dish dessert: any fruit crisp. I particularly favor peach crisp. Requires fresh peaches though.

Great recipe! A friends mother used to make this, she called it “teen bean bake”. It was like this, but the cornbread topping had chopped onions in it. I had forgotten about it.

This is a good pantry recipe for anyone who’s prepping food. I’m definitely adding this to my prepping recipe box 😄

Have you ever heard of leather britches? My grandpa used to make them when I was young but I never got the recipe. I know they were made with dried green beans, but that’s it. Hopefully you have and can make it. I love your content.
