Hi 👋 Rhoda. Love this list of foods that may go scarce. I stock quite a bit of tuna canned and packs both. I stick crackers too. Peanut butter and jelly, canned chicken, beans… dried and canned, soups, mashed potatoes, cream soups, cheap Walmart cookies, canned veggies, canned milk, salsa, cereal not a lot but a few boxes, canned tomatoes and rotel, granola bars. I have several candles, couple Luci lights (solar inflatable LED lites)
They give off lots of light. Collect tree branches, medium and small in case we need to cook over a fire outside, matches too. Trying to be prepared. Buying a little at a time as we r retired and of course we only get so much per month. I have never learned to bake bread. My mom passed when I was 9 so I never got to learn from her. 😢 I might be able to learn if the directions are step by step and somewhat easy. I have never used yeast. Thanks so much for your lists, videos, and recipes. It’s very helpful to me. ❤😊

Amazon has the aluminum pie plates that you get the Pot Pies in 50 for $10. It actually gave me an idea to put leftovers in these, making it easy to thaw and eat. Yes, I am spending money on disposable pie tins, but it doesn't compare to the amount of money that gets tossed from our refrigerator waiting on people to eat leftovers.

Best thrift store investment I have made, is buying a $6.99 bread maker. Make sure the inside container has the little paddle in it to spin the dough around. I just let it do the work. I have even made dinner rolls. Makes the whole house smell like grandma's house. Hang On World!

Butter was another food item that was rationed and expensive. The world war videos also have a lot of depression type recipes but with various other items that would be more of a vegan or vegetarian food approach.

I got pears, peaches and apples from senior center. I didn't want to fool with it individually. I diced all them and stewed all together. It came out wonderful. I all it mixed fruit.

Your meat pie looks delicious…even if I didn't have to watch my budget and frugal fare, I would still want my tea and toast for breakfast, beans and cornbread, meatless meals, homemade veggie soup, chili dogs, fried egg sammiches and grilled cheese for other meals…simple country fare…

I’ve never tried to reuse a little tinfoil mini baking pans but I bet you could if you were careful and use a piece of parchment paper Strip to slip it out that way you wouldn’t have to buy

When I bake for other people I also use a little cellophane bags they sell at Dollar tree do you usually get 10 to 12 of them for $1.25 and then I put the little mini Loaf of bread into them and put a bow on them ..I might think about doing that myself I need to generate some income

I went to the 99 cent only store today for the first time in probable 8 months. It was shocking. No good deals at all. No 50% off deals like you find, but the prices were as much or more than the grocery store prices. I bought nothing. I guess I won't bother with our store. BTW, I'm in Arizona.

Use your crust to make perogies then no need for pie pans. (Like a hand pie). We ate the last of my homemade tamales yesterday for lunch I need to make more but I am a bit overwhelmed right now.

I got bit by a brown recluse spider when we were visiting friends at the coast. The host granddaughter had just ben stung by a wasp so when I felt the sting I thought it was a wasp. The next morning my leg was swollen twice the size and the area was turning black. We had to drive 2 hours to get to a doctor and the doctor said I was lucky I came right away. They had to cut a big chunk out of my leg where the flesh was poisoned and I had to be on several medications.

Hi Rhoda and hi to all your community!🤗 to get one food item extra whenever you can afford it or when is on sale is a good way to have a nice stocked pantry and then after some weeks rotate it so the old won't be the last one to consume and if you are really struggling with money just don't waste money on candy ,sodas or any snack you can have a pack of whatever you like to eat just don't stockpile it because at the long run that won't be any good for your health and as I say if you are really struggling with money you need to prioritize 👍have a great day everyone! 😊
