I always keep dried onions on hand. We use it for so many dishes I also keep a canning jar filled with crispy fried onions. When my husband was alive, he was diabetic. So I came up with meal ideas for him to be able to eat that I enjoyed too. I made chili, but used mushrooms in place of the beans. I would cook onions, beef and the mushrooms together, then continue adding the rest of the normal ingredients. I like chili with white rice, shredded cheddar cheese and green onions on top. And sometimes with sweet , moist corn bread tfs 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

How about some Mc Cormick Chili Powder? I have made my chili just like yours without chili flavoring and no one missed it but me. I also put a can of Meli-Cali [renamed Southwestern] corn in

I have seen a recipe where you cook your chili with a slightly thicker consistency and then they put the chili in a casserole dish. They then pour cornbread mixture over the top of the chili. You can top it with cheese or not. Then you bake it off and you have a chili/cornbread casserole.

I make grilled cheese sandwiches with my chili. I also like it with crackers. I don't care for cornbread and milk but many in my family love it. I take care of my elderly mother and she has trouble with her teeth so I know I can always at least get her to eat the cornbread and milk.

Choosing between crackers and Fritos to have with chili, I'm safer to eat saltines or oyster crackers, because if I go for the Fritos I can't stop! Homemade cornbread is always wonderful, and yes I am known to put a wedge of cornbread in a glass and pour milk over it. I eat that instead of cereal sometimes. Glad to see you back online regularly! Stay warm.

Sorry to hear about your mouth problems, I hope you are able to get it all sorted out quickly and painlessly, I remember you saying you have a cosmetology license and was wondering if you have any interesting things to tell about your time in school and after. I went to cosmetology school as well, but had to quit after I put in1800 hours, I only had 200 hours to finish, but my arthritis won that battle. 🙁
