"The combination of butter and miso is actually quite unusual and not one neccessarily that you would see in places like Japan" – Actually, butter is the classic "oil" that goes with miso ramen.

Please take this as I mean for it to be understood: Your 'normals' are so well trained and experienced in the kitchen now, that there isn't much they can't do, and very well! They're fun to watch, their presentations are yummy and creative, and I'd hate to see any leave the show. However, ….

SUGGESTION: Keep all the present crew, but then……have a fresh batch of kitchen 'NEWBIES' who y'all will bring along the basics and 'secrets' that the more experienced chef has at their fingertips. There's room for all levels of kitchen technicians, right? Lets see perhaps…teens? or, bachelors with fear of kitchen equipment, or how to slice thru meats and their squeamish tendencies???, or…how to choose foods from the market??? (Some of us older folks (cough-cough), need such foundational info, too). : )

"miso with butter isn't something you'd see in Japan" I'm actually pretty sure it is, I think there is a Japanese pasta dish that does miso and butter as their sauce

What gets me with this GCC is that Ebbers OBVIOUSLY has had a sh_tload of time to mentally prepare and organise his recipe/s which takes (what i think, at least) 95% of the "challenge" out of the whole point. Give him the 30 mins prep – but WITHOUT seeing (honestly!) the groceries first! Then we´ll see what he´s made of – and don´t not show it if he effs up. Lol 🙂

I love the concept of making the onion the main feature of the meal. I often have a bare fridge and a couple of onions in the store cupboard by the end of the week and end up ordering takeaway because I can't see a meal there. I have miso and polenta in my store cupboard too, so this is a great way to make a delicious meal from the bare minimum ingredients.

Chef leaves a plastic spatula in a pan on the hob! Really bad practice there peeps.

Never leave a plastic utensil in a hot pan, they have a tendency to melt.

Also do not leave a metal one in a pan either, they get a bit warm. Freaking heck, basics!
