I grew up only eating red bell peppers, and didn't know people would cook or mix them until in was in my late teens. I love them tho although I'm im gonna have them theyre gonna be fresh lol. Yes indeed …get all you can stored up . It will help …who knows 6-10 months how much food will be …but we know in the US it’s gonna be REAL so says the big guy in our WH… I recommend dehydrate & freeze dried if you can add it to your pantry too 😊💕🏡

I wish we had a discount store near us! We need to go downstairs and clean/reorganize our cold storage (even in summer it's cold!). Stocking up on things every two weeks…. Just 4 extra cans of different items at a time. No panic buying, but it's time to get more than 2 months in there.

Oh, and helping our neighbor start her own garden! Everything gets canned this year!

we are planting more this year as well; We have been using the veggies, sauces, relishes and pie fillings etc. Will focus on putting down twice as much this year. I stock piled sugars and flours of various varieties as well for baking bread and pastries and cookies, muffins. The prices are worsening in the stores so I only grab when on sale.

Good job, Bev. Too bad you don’t have a closer grocery outlet near you. Is this the one that you guys stopped at when you were in Peterborough not last summer but the summer before – the summer when your tire blew out? Looks like they have good deals.

I see that you can your squash, I baked all of my winter squash and mashed it and put into freezer bags and froze them all, now of course the problem is I have far to many bags of frozen winter squash, and I need to make room for butchering half of our chickens, and later 6 turkeys if all goes well, I see that a lot of folks are canning meats but I am not so brave, yet, but I think I will try canning squash this year, may be canning more vegetables instead of taking up room in the freezer! good idea!

If I just love how you take care of your family by growing vegetables and canning them. But what I love most of all is your personality oh my God I bet you're just a blast this is Garnett again and I'm 70 well soon to be 78 years old. Mom and Daddy did the same thing that you did they planted a big garden what I love most of all is your spontaneity just a joy to hear you everyday it brightens my life.

I found by using a can opener that cuts on the outside, the lid of a tuna can will fit inside a wide mouth ring. Get a red rubber type ring for a seal. I do this when we make stew and have leftovers and put in jars for the fridge . save your canning lids. No vacuum seal just to prevent spilling .

My son in law took me to a discount store last week. We bought ground pork for $1.99 for 1 1/2 pounds, pre cooked sausage patties for 1.49 per pound, and 3 pounds of roll sausage for 1.05 per pound. They have plenty of beef stored up, so this was great. We are watching for a sale on chicken to round things up.

You have to be careful with the Family Delight brand of frozen foods…more often than not I've found them sourced from China. I bought a bag of their frozen peppers a couple of years ago only to be disappointed they weren't Canadian/US sourced.

Great hall Bev! Guess what I found last week at my local Krogers? Pot Roasts on sale, buy one, get one fee! No limit either! I bought two, got two for free…and I’m not a lucky person! I couldn’t believe it…I was so happy…😂😂. I canned them all up and those are on my shelf now…

2 weeks ??? That's all. We've been told here in the states that we should have a 3 month supply of food. With all I've canned and all I've prepped from the store and the freeze dried foods I've bought I have over a years supply of food. I had to make 1 of my bedrooms into a pantry. I can't wait to get in the garden, we just had 5 inches of snow last nite I hope it's over now

We are definitely stopping at assorted stores we don't normally pass by on our trips out of ur normal area. Many of them are places like the bakery outlet, discount grocery stores, ethnic stores, etc… Based upon price, sales, and clearance we may only buy a few items or buy in quantity only a few skus.
