I like the buttermilk addition to coffee cake. It’s not so crumbly. If you like the crumbs, use plain milk. If you don’t have buttermilk, put 1 tsp of vinegar in 1 cup milk and let set for 5 minutes.

I’ve been using crumb cake mixes, but they’re up to $3 box now! For health and economic reasons I am striving to ditch convenience foods by making my own. Thank you for this video and God bless you!

Your choice of that Psalm is very meaningful to me. At one point I was close to death…though I did not know how close. The doctors put me in intensive care! While I was waiting for the ambulance I wondered if I was dying…is that floating feeling was what death felt like. I asked Jesus to take my soul. He answered me. He told me I was not dying…not yet…but when you DO die that is what dying feels like…so don’t be worried. I told Him I worry all the time about everything. He said “Then stay close to Me.” That was 5 years ago…and here I am!!!

Becky, I am making this coffee cake, and I have a question. When I got to the crumbly topping, there were no measurements given, so since I have your cook book, I went to that for the amounts. But my crumbly topping didn’t turn out to be crumbly, but more of a paste. I decided to use it anyway. I added some more brown sugar to it, hoping to make it more dry and crumbly, but no luck. I checked on it in my oven since it’s nearly ready to come out, but it looks kind of spotty, I mean the topping does. Any ideas what the problem might be.

Becky, this is a great one! With or without the nuts. We made it both ways to bring to a morning church meeting. Perfect with coffee or tea, and excellent if you just don’t feel like cereal or eggs for breakfast some days. Everyone enjoyed this coffee cake, and we all say thank you!
