Bonita, where I live, we do not get these ready made packaged gluten free flours. Can you share the contents of the flour so I can get them from the store?

Thanks for this video. I enjoy learning about what people in other areas consider a 'tradition' food wise – especially for the holidays. I live in the Pacific Northwest, US, and did grow up with some salted cod (Norwegian) prepared in cod fish cakes but had never heard of this combo till now. I hardly ever see the boxes of the salted cod now days. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I live in Maine. I would have thought that our cooking would have been more similar. It really isn’t, but it is similar to some of my grandmothers recipes she showed me years ago. She lived on the shore, and was from a poor family. She was born in 1895. They made the best of what they had and did it taste good! She is the only person I ever saw make scrunchins, but I don’t think she called them that. She ate salt cod a lot, too. I can’t wait to try this!

Hi Bonita, I've never heard of "hard bread" or "scrunchins" before. This is so unique and looks yummy. I've got to give it a try. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. Merry Christmas!

Bonita – I am curious. In the Maritime provinces do you ever see brewis served in restaurants? In New England I knew a few people who made it at home, but never saw it in restaurants there. It is largely unknown. Thanks for the video!

I found this so interesting. I had no idea people still ate hardtack! Everytime I've read about hardtack it has been in a historical aspect or as a prep for long term storage and made in large batches. Now I'm going to have rethink about how I can use hardtack. Great video 👍👍
