Amen, brother! It really isn't that hard. Little by little, it's only taken me about 2 years to get a closet full of freeze dried and canned food as well as about 100 pounds each of rice and beans stored in mylar bags. Also 110 gallons of stored water and all the other "survival" items we may need; water filters, heat supply, cooking needs, meds, hygiene, etc. Former Marine and current LEO, I also have what it'll take to protect me and my family. Just do it little by little and you'll be amazed by how quickly you can get the supplies you need.

Case in Point: Insulin. I have a TWO YEAR supply.
Heart Medications I have a Year plus of Metroprolol. I have a Year's worth of Alipurinol. Four Months of Renalozine. Three Months of Plavix & Protonic-These last Two I only need for a Year as I got my Third Stent this Past Feb.
I have several Sawyer Mini Water Filters. Right now, my Two BIG priorities are the Medical Supplies which I found out the HARD way I am low on, and fuel. We Heat our home with Kerosene, and THIS Year has been unusually cold and wet, so we're using 50% More than I planned for. Kerosene is a BIG ITEM we who heat with it need to look VERY Hard at. WHEN, not if we get into a full blown war, the Kerosene we can presently buy for our Heaters will NOT be available, as it will be siphoned off to the Military for fuel for the Jets & Helicopters-SOMETHING TO CONSIDER, FOLKS!

MY first rule of food prep. Store what you EAT-eat what you STORE! I've stored all the food my present resources will allow me to; And now I'm rotating through it. NOW I'm working on securing an emergency fuel supply. A week ago, our Kerosene Heater gave out after 25 Years of use. I think I was EXTREMELY fortunate to find a replacement for it and having it in my Home in less than 6 Days, given how things are at present!
Our Electricity Bill will be a few Bucks higher this Month, but what about when there is NO Electricity?! This year I also got a BRAND NEW Pair of good Quality Work Boots, and a new Winter Coat.
Medical Kit: I had an Eye-Opener for myself last Night. I got a cut on one arm. It was the tiniest little thing, but for some reason it would not stop Bleeding. I found out the Hard way the I did not have the proper kit to del with this, so I had to go to the ER. This will be corrected TODAY!

I have my rotational stock but I have a good back stock of foods that I don't usually eat. I eat keto but still have rice, pasta etc put by because if it all goes south, enough calories to get by will come before dietary preference. Canned meat isn't something I particularly like but canned protein is better than no protein – as my grandmother would say, "Beggers can't be choosers."

Greetings from the land of ice and snow (middle of Alaska) 😎☕️🥶 current temperature 23F, still a lot of snow and ice, major roadways are clear so that is a plus! Your new home is coming along nicely, thank you very much for sharing your progress. I am getting ideas for my semi remote property cabin out of town. Only change I need to make is 2X6 construction with 2-4 inches of exterior foam board insulation, house wrap and skin as you did with metal siding. 😎👍👊

Advice please ! I want to put a bag in the car with snacks and drinks but with the FL heat idk how or what to really put and need ideas . We have life straws. I was thinking granola bars but they will melt. I thought of nuts or peanut butter for protein. Not sure it's a good idea to leave water in the car either.
