I love black bean soup and usually make a large pot so I have leftovers for work lunches. I like to put some diced ham or cooked sausages for more flavor. I'm from Texas and think the cumin is absolutely necessary. I also make cornbread with it.
I don't have an instant pot, using a cast iron dutch oven on the stove top. Do you think the electricity savings pays for the cost of the instant pot?

Hi Jane thanks, this is one of my favorite meals with my variation being an addition of masala spices and tomatoes thereby turning it into a type of curry flavor I suppose as I am of Indian ancestry

Ooo, looks yummy! I’ve seen a yellow lentil soup that I’m going to try this coming week but I’ll be making your black bean soup too I think. Delish ! 😍Congrats on the 25K subscribers btw! 🎉

Congratulations on reaching 25K subscribers. My 21 year old Niece purchased an Instant Pot from a charity shop and is "using" it! We are making Frugal strides into the next generation of Home Keepers.

I love black bean soup. When I first heard of it, I thought, "Yuck." I tried it, and I changed my mind! Have a buttered bagel and a salad on the side, and you won't be hungry all day.

As children we often had home-made soup before the main course at dinner time. I see what Mum was up to now. Maybe it should come back as a custom, for using up odds and ends that would otherwise go to waste. That black bean soup looks delicious, I’m going to try it in my slow-cooker, maybe using different beans as I don’t currently have any black beans in

Thank you Jane and Mike, this looks like a super simple filling meal. Hubby dislikes black beans but it should work to substitute a small white bean instead. He isn't really much for legumes except in a few dishes but I'll give it a try. Your quilting studio looks lovely, I bet you have something pretty under your needle.

Love soup, love beans, excellent protein and filling. I don't have an Instant pot, looks good. I made veg curry yesterday, with a chilli – keep some in the freezer. Didn't de-seed but seem to have stumbled on rather a hot one, even by my standards ad I like spicy food. Certainly warmed me up (can't you just imagine the UK government adding "eat spicy foods/chilli to keep warm" to their list of other suggestions!).

Thank you Jane and Michael for a lovely video. I use my instant pot very often. I will try this recipe as it looks delicious. Thank you for sharing your life and knowledge with us.
I also bake my own bread and cook from scratch and re-use left overs.

    Trying tha😮 one, I love
    Soup and
In winter eat it nea😮lu every day😮. It makes a
Nice warming hearty lunch or even a
Light dinn😮r if I have had a big lunch. It is also good on the budget because you can put anything into a soup add a good seasoning and it will taste great for just a few pennies most times.
