I love Rock Ballads! … Meatloaf is the lead singers name, not a group.
He wouldn't cheat for love, the song is about her accusing him of cheating, but he wouldn't do that.

Meat Loaf isn't the name of the band, it was the gentleman singing (who unfortunately passed away last year). The name of the band is actually Neverland Express, but they are not talked about that often. They are still performing even though Meat has passed away with Caleb Johnson who won American Idol season 13 taking his place.

While you are right, leaving is one of the things he won't do, there were a number of other things… like stop dreaming of you every night of my life, forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight, do it better than I do it with you, and forget the way you fell right now.

As was pointed out by someone else, his real name is Michael Lee Aday, except that wasn't his birth name either it was actually was Marvin, but he hated that name because there was an advertisement when he was a child that went "Fat Marvin can't wear Levi's." At one point during the 80's he was having to sign some contracts and he was required to use his real name, so he went to court and told the judge the story and the judge said "Ok from now on your name is Michael." (At least that is how Meat told the story in the interview I saw, some of his stories about his life were inconsistent)

The song was written by his long term collaborator Jim Steinman who wrote pretty much every song that Meat sang that became popular. He also for other singers including "Total Eclipse of the heart" and "Holding out for a hero." He wrote "It's all coming back to me now" for Celine Dion and Air Supply's "Making love out of Nothing at all" – and many many more.

That comment about him looking like the Beast… someone already said it but you definitely should check out the official music video to see how right you are.

Also echoing another comment: if you plan to continue the Meatloaf journey, next stop should be Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.

Loved this reaction! A few points: 1) You never have to apologize or justify rewinding Meatloaf to hear it again. 2)The singer is "Mr. Loaf, not the band name, no biggie because how would someone just know that? 3) My drink spewed from my mouth and shot out of my nose when you started the whole Beauty and the Beast thing… We're gonna need you to watch another video before you can wrap this one up. Strong work, you're awesome. 🤘

He’ll do anything for love but he won’t cheat! Watch the original music video on YouTube. He is the beast! You would also enjoy “ Bat out of hell”, “ Two out of three ain’t bad” and “ Paradise by the dashboard lights” they are also by Meatloaf.

    He won't do that…
He says it in the very beginning. " I would do anything for love, but I won't forget your face and the way you feel right now. No, I won't do that"
Meat Loaf is his actual name . R.I.P.
His dream was to be an actor , during his Broadway days his singing career took off faster than acting though his biggest role was in the movie "fight club"
You would really enjoy "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"

You're right re Beauty and the Beast. You really MUST view the video version of this song. His videos are always very powerful and well done… rock operas for lack of a better term. Jim Steinman wrote most of the Meatloaf material. A great collaboration for years!!!

There are seven things Meat Loaf won't do, in this song. The first four are mentioned at the beginning of each chorus:

    1) But I'll never forget the way you feel right now, oh no, no way..
    2) But I'll never forgive myself if we don't go all the way tonight..
    3) But I'll never do it better than I do it with you, so long, so long..
    4) But I'll never stop dreaming of you every night of my life, no way..

The remaining three are responses to his lady:

    Lady:
    5) After a while, you'll forget everything.
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
    6) And you'll see that it's time to move on

    Meat Loaf:
    I won't do that- no, I won't do that

    Lady:
I know the territory, I've been around. It'll all turn to dust and we'll all fall down.
    7) And sooner or later, you'll be screwing around

    Meat Loaf:
    I won't do that- no, I won't do that..
