once you cut the onion once…rince them under water and rub the cut sides together and it won't make you cry! Works every time for me 🙂
I'm going to try this recipe – just got the pot for Xmas

I think it might be a good idea to pour the water into the blender container after you have poured most of the contents into the iPot that way it cleans out the mixture in the blender and gets most of it into the iPot.

Migraines are nit just bad pain. I have migraines and don't like when people are up walking around saying they have a migraine! I am down in bed as are many others who suffer migraines, these are no laughing matter. I can't stand noise, light, my head feels like someone shot a side of it off ( burning/throbbing), my actual appearance changes, nausea/throwing up, body pain, the list goes on. Here's a symptom list of migraines
Pain areas: in the face or neck
    Pain types: can be dull
Headache: can be acute, frequent, severe, or throbbing
Whole body: dizziness, lightheadedness, or malaise
Sensory: sensitivity to light, aura, or sensitivity to sound
    Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting
Visual: distorted vision or seeing flashes of light
Also common: irritability, nasal congestion, or scalp tenderness

Great recipe, Derek. Two tips. First. Please wash the lentils, beans and rice before you cook. They are incredibly dirty. They've been in silos, transported in trucks and run through all kinds of machinery to get bagged. They have had mice and rats in them and lots of dirt and dust from the picking and transporting procedure. You don't want to eat all the dust and dirt and animal feces.
Secondly, to avoid the eye probs from cutting onion; run the onion pieces, and the knife, under cool water while making those first cuts and peeling. All that juice that comes to the surface is what is making your eyes hurt/cry. I never have that reaction any more. If you keep a colander in the sink while you cut up the onion, it makes it easy. Just throw in the parts you want to rinse while you are cutting it up. Let the water/spray rinse it/the parts.

I've been using an electric pressure cooker for the last 5 years and absolutely love it! I don't have the patience to stand over a watched pot, however, the pressure cooker allows me to set the time and pressure, and walk away!

Re-watching to give your recipe a go, I thought you added curry paste or something to it? Was sure I seen that in another video. Or am I thinking of a diff recipe all together? lol

This is my fav.but, red lentils are hard to find in my area, only found 4 sm bags in a radius of 60 miles! Thank goodness for online shopping. I made a few changes,  I just use the taco seasoning that our local grocery store makes, and a jar of whole peppers that is in seasoned brim. Love this over balsamic rice, eat 5X a week, at least! This is so handy during the busy summer months, just go to the ref and spoon out 1/3 bowl of rice and top with lentil chili, warm, or, I like cold on hot days!  Thanks for posting! Passed this on to a friend that needs some life style changes

You know you can cook any red lentil recipe on normal stove top in 30 minutes? I've got stove top pressure cooker and, no shit, cooks my red lentil chilli in 10 minutes. I think this Instant Pot is … a crock!

Damn, tried to make this tonight. I didn't calculate that the amount of water you used was probably because how quickly your instant pot cooks. I put this recipe in my rice cooker that is a slow cooker too. It was too much water, more like soup now. I am going to have to just buy an instant pot soon, it looks so cool!

If you toss the whole bulb of garlic in a jar and shake, the skin will come off. Put the cloves back in the jar and shake again, and the skins come off the cloves. 😀

Wow, that is crazy that caffeine withdrawal influences your wellbeing that much. :/ During exam period I drank like 4 cups a day for a couple of weeks, but I never felt bad after I stopped.
To all those who are struggling with this, get well soon!

I'm not sure if you guys sort & rinse your lentils… But I'd recommend that you do!! Last time I ate lentils I didn't rinse them or sort them and I bit into a pebble, didn't feel so good! Hope that doesn't happen to you guys

Onion cutting tip! When your eyes start to burn, stick your head in the freezer with your eyes open. I promise it works, and you can look ridiculous at the same time!
