On my way to set type 2 into remission (inspired by you), I have learned that sleep is as important as eating no carbs. Be selfish, take a break whenever you need it. The order is: first you, then your loved ones and then the rest. You come first to function for your loved ones and then you can take care of the rest of the world (includes business and money). Bad sleep -> stress -> mental exhaustion -> unnecessary eating -> frustration thru eating (even no carbs) -> bad sleep. Break it. The reason why you help people with your videos is, besides your competence as a doctor, that you are honest and not perfect. Thanks!

I have recently been trying to get MORE sleep but in doing so I have less time to unwind. Now I’m thinking, take an extra hour or two and go for BETTER sleep. Previously I unwound by watching tv. Realize now that’s part of the problem, I’ll have to change that. Thanks.

I don't sleep well at night, not because of emotional or any mental issues, but only because of my prostate, as I have to wake up every hour to pee. Haven't found any solution for this so far- any thoughts?

This video could not have come at a better time. Decided to go back to school to become RD and already dealing with the stress of online platform/tech issues. My sleep has not been good. Watched your video and went back to making time for myself again. Slept better. I am learning how important emotional management is as part of a complete healthy lifestyle. Thank you once again Dr. Cywes, for the education.

There is NOTHING so important in life to deny necessary sleep . . . it is essential to Health. So many individuals DO-DO-DO to feel important. It's sad and detrimental to everyone around them. Get your rest. Above all else, get your rest.

Thank you Dr., I've realized with this info that I need to get to a better state of mind to help my sleep. I'm going to research and see what else I can do.

My wife had the house full of carbs. Low carb is so hard to do when you walk by lemon, pecan, and apple pies, some with a piece or two gone, see several kinds of Ice cream when you get your frozen veggies from the freezer, fridge full of high carb junk also. After 55 years that's out.Get to rant here. Thanks.

I grew up like many thinking breakfast was all so important. Thankfully now I don't eat until I am actually hungry, which in most cases is between noon to two. Then if I get hungry again I will eat a second meal around 5-7 pm. I work second shift and I haven't felt better since just listening to my body and only eating when I need to. Try my best to stay carb free as well. I have learned so much from you and greatly appreciate the work you do.

When I turned 60 I got three S's out of my life: Sugar, Starches, and Statins. Then 3 years later I retired which mostly reduced the fourth S: Stress. But I haven't been sleeping as well the past few days and I had a breakfast the other day – also not part of my routine – and for the same reason Dr. Cywes did. I think I need a new rule: get away from the computer after 6:00 pm and read instead.
