It's best that people who cannot afford pots and pans use this method. These stainless steel kettles are not designed to make anything but hot water. Do anything else and you not only lose your warranty but also ruin the kettle's lifespan. Good tip for hostel students but I request other people to use simply pots and pans. Also if there is a power cut, which is notorious in India, you cannot cook. Also there is a chance of electric shock. Using oil and other greasy items will def spoil this. Some things should be used as they are meant to be used. Also remember the lid is just cheap plastic. The longer you cook in this, the more the lid heats and the toxic fumes mix with your food. Not to mention the coil on the heating pad will get more pressure on it if you cook things like rice in this pot (If someone thinks they can attempt biryani in this). Water is not heavy like food. The heating pad will also get damaged. There is something called a Multi purpose kettle which is sold nowadays by many brands. Buy one of those instead.
