EASY Instant Pot Chicken Legs Recipe

In this easy cooking video, I cook some chicken legs in my Instant Pot Ultra 60 pressure cooker. First, I rinsed the chicken legs in warm water and pulled off the skin. Then I seasoned them with salt and Johnny’s Seasoned Pepper. I added 1 cup of water to the pot and cooked them for 13 minutes on the pressure cook setting. Then released the pressure manually and covered them with BBQ sauce.

Couldn't some bbq sauce go in with water ? I thought it might be a little more flavorful. Or would it burn ?
Thanks for the yummy chicken video ! 👌🏼👋🏼

I'd use only chicken stock…Forget the water folks absolute Myth that u got to use water in insta pots to get to steam…I use pure stocks, apple juice will work on ribs etc. again no need for water…. Even pop will work if u wanna make some cola ribs… But back to the chicken use stock, pull em out after fully slow releasing and BBQ em up and Broil em in the oven 4 to 5 min each side, they will be soooooo good…

Meijer is having a sale Friday, I can't figure out how to make a decent chicken leg, I am following your technique here. Thirteen minutes. It looked good–well cooked and tender. I'd like to try some sweet and sour sauce with red hot chili pepper flakes in it for the sweet and spicy taste. Thanks for posting.

I hear both sides: wash & don’t wash. What’s the true reason to wash or not?
Mmmmm… in bed on ice packs for lower back all day & chances of good meal not high. Likely a microwave magic meal on deck. Thank goodness we live in times that prepared & shelf stable foods are edible… some even quite tasty! Loved the Barilla ready eat & just zap in microwave & you’re good to go. Have a few others yet to try. Felt guilty because my husband who, like you, had open heart surgery not once but twice & has over 16 stents in place. We lost count after 14. Lol.. so I’ve always been one meal planning using food he likes but prepared without all the grease & bad stuff. Now I’ve been attached to the bed last few months since docs are under govt rules & cant write pain prescriptions for patients they have treated for years. My supply of pain meds runs our next week & I’ve rationed as much as possible so withdrawal won’t be so wicked as going cold turkey as have done in past.
Question: Where does people in your area or in your followers get their pain medication? I’m paying two good docs for services already & until January, they had been able to write refills as time came. Now if I want refill, I’m forced to pain clinic & ones here are with docs I can’t understand but 2 or 3 words in their sentences. Plus, was told by my surgeon that if I am associated with a pain clinic, he can no longer perform the ablations as the pain clinics do those. I’ve got a couple friends who wish there’d never gone to their pain clinics, both are the best choices in our area, because the ablations & injections they get there are done with least amount of sedation and they will NOT offer any pain relief during recovery phase until you are released. What do y’all do for pain medication?
I’m walking into the unknown now as ice pads (I have four & swap out every 4-6 hours) are my only method for relief. Does help bring blowtorch pain down below inferno & stays in the slow boil, simmering stage. Down side is I’ve got to be in bed to keep the cold pack on my back or it slips off even with their Velcro straps.
That’s a goldmine idea if someone can make an ice pad about 12×17 widths length in inches. Also needs to be light enough to wear under clothes AND stays in place. Haven’t seen anything like that on Market.
I’m still championing Send Jim to DC to fight for our right to choose our docs & let our docs provide what they feel is needed medication for their patients. They’re the ones with the medical degrees – not this opioid crisis team who are being political to get the voters on their side & who cares why they’re truly there. I’m thinking drugs have killed many people, TRUE. Alcohol, drunk driving are also hazards. Already shared about my nephew killed at age 17 from his driver taking Benadryl. And that’s over the counter. Aspirin, glue sniffing, leaving food out too long & then putting in fridge for a later meal & get food poisoning… that’s also killed lots of people. Seems to me this boils down to personal responsibility. If you need pain medication to function in daily life, then ok. If you continue to use after you’re healed from a surgery & another issue may be reason you’re continuing to take pain pills, then check out those folk…
BUT STOP PUNISHING THE CHRONIC PAIN PATIENTS who have same docs, use sand pharmacies, and follow all the extra rules that keep coming to get our pain medication. One person told me, “Well, you won’t die from your lower back problems.” Almost cane unhinged because she only saw what she wanted to see. She had no clue I’ve got heart conduction & irregular rhythm issues that’s been going on for over 45 years.
Didn’t mean to leave along rant on your enjoyable cooking videos.
If anyone has ideas, I’m open to whatcha got & will check with my doc to see if it’ll do ok for me or not with the mix of other medication I take unrelated to pain.
Stormy, rainy day here. Hope the sun is shining & everyone is able to enjoy this moment in time.
Thanks for listening, Jim, and tha k you for speaking out advocatingfor chronic pain patients. My condition will not get better with time. I’m only 57 years old & feel I’ve lost best years of life.
Take care & looking forward to your next video.

Hi Jim – I have a different brand of pressure cooker; it has high and low pressure options. Do you, or a viewer, know how that would compare to how you cooked those chicken legs? Your friend looked so patient at the end and must be a real sweetie.
