    Be careful! Fermented black beans usually contain wheat flour or traces of gluten. If it's not certified gluten free, it's not coeliac disease safe at all! The one you used seems ok per the ingredient list, but I just looked at a few other brands and they all contained wheat.

    I love your version of hoisun sauce. Simple and wholesome. The only thing is I don't have any fermented black bean. I remember my mother would use it in steam fish with green onion. What other usage for the black bean? I was planning on using the sauce for tofu. Thank you for recipe.🙏

    Thanks for this great recipe! I'd much rather use a Hoisin sauce like this where I know what's in it rather than a certain popular one that contains Red 40 made from coal tars which may be unhealthy. Who wants coal tar in their food? Food manufacturers insult consumers by adulterating food for a marginal benefit.
