One of my favorite dishes Kao Mun Gai!!
First thing i get when i go to Phuket!
Nice EZ recipe!
Omg thank you! My mom never taught me how to cook all the authentic Thai recipes so when I’m craving something I come here! My mom used to cook this in a rice cooker. I’m sure you could also do it in a slow cooker!
I don't know why but Vietnamese people originated from China who serve this chicken rice dish tends to give us more chicken than rice! so whenever we go to the restaurant and look at the menu, we are always determined that additional rice will be on the order list
Hainan in Tagalog/Filipino literally means to serve food.
I had this at a little place at Doi Suthep a few weeks ago. It was delicious. And you’re right you don’t get as much chicken as your recipe 😂😂😎
I always prefer Khao Mun Kai with crispy fried chicken than this steamed chicken.
Pls do the show for my fav one 🤤
I made this (not exact to the measurement because I’m lazy) and it was so easy and delicious!!! I skipped the ginger in the rice because I’m not fond of it but it worked just as great ❤️
Paullin, you are so beautiful and I love ur recipes !!!!!!
Sawadee kha! I'm so glad I found your channel!! you can't imagine how happy I am, I lived in Thailand for a few months and I was the happiest girl in the world there. I really miss this beautiful country so much. Anyway, thank you for sharing your recipe now I can try to cook them and enjoy again these delicious flavorings!
One would have to add a ton of MSG to make it like authentic Thai street food. Because if a little is good, a lot is better.
now i'm hungry.. 😕😄
She said yeahhhh when she put on the sauce ☺️
I'm with you. I'd rather have chicken thighs any day than chicken breast. But I'm willing to try it in this dish! Hope it tastes as good as the thighs-I think I'll do half and half to see. Thanks for another great recipe!
Chinese Risotto.
I've made the traditional recipe before. Will have to try this version!
The recipe that I learned also had a dipping sauce where hot oil was poured over ginger and chopped green onions. Is that also served in Thailand, or is that more Chinese?
Thank you..and you are most beautiful 💐
definitely making this! Thanks Pai!!!
I tried the one-pot method and the rice didn't stick to the bottom. Unfortunately, the chicken was undercooked, probably because I used a leg+thigh cut which is the only one available where I live. Just a warning if someone else is thinking of modifying the recipe!
hi there mrs. pailin would dou ban jiang red /black work with the sauce as well?
I love kaw moo deang. Could you share how to make the red sauce?
Which dipping sauce is more authentic, the Thai one or the Singaporean ginger scallion oil? I’m Thai but I actually prefer the Singaporean version…
Thank you this chicken dish simple enough to try! 😊
Kao mun gai is my favourite dish when I go to Thailand. In my favourite restaurant they serve it with fried chicken as well and it provides a whole different texture! SO GOOD 🤤.
My favorite Thai dish to eat when I go to Thailand!! I eat it everyday when I'm there because my Thai wife only makes it here once in awhile lol Thank you Pai for the fantastic videos 😊
dope recipe ! gotta try this
where does the broth at the end come from? u used all the liquid cooking the rice and chicken
I just cooked a Filipino dish that's somewhat similar, called arroz caldo ("rice broth")! I'm lazy and cheap so I skipped some of the more characteristic ingredients (safflower and green onions), but if yours turned out more porridge-like and you added fish sauce and onions with the ginger and garlic, it's loosely the same!
I love learning about similarities between Asian dishes.
Can I not put ginger in the rice? I really dont like the taste of ginger. For infusion purpose is ok, not tasting. I often had this in Singapore and I don't remember they put garlic or ginger in rice.
Delicious, easy and well explained. BTW, Pailin, is that a pregnancy glow you have going on? You're beaming!
This looks fantastic. Thank you.
7:41 I would have put in some coriander root and some holy basil and then let it steam but that would be my Twist .lol
Had the chance to try that chicken rice at chatuchak! Its yummy, I am craving for it since yesterday. ☹️ I’m from Philippines 🇵🇭
