Looks Delicious!! I live in San Antonio, but I’m originally from the north and we always put beans in our chili… The only time we used chili with no beans was as a hotdog topper.

I love chili period. I prefer chili no beans for my hotdogs and frito pies, but when I’m eating just chili with cornbread, I gotta have beans included, and a slice of raw onion on the side.

I love beans but I just use the Bushes Chili Beans in sauce. I also add Better than Bouillon adobo, chili seasoning, and smokey chipolte into my sauce and all the new Better than Bouillon have amazing flavor and so easy to add. I also use cumin. In my cornbread, I like corn and jalapeños. Everything has so much flavor. Thanks for your recipe.

Talk about great minds, I used a can of Rotel with green chili and about a 1/2 pound of hamburger, over instant rice add flour tortillas and you have lunch. Putting this one on my menu.

You're a brave woman, Angelika! Chili and cornbread are the two foods people seem to fight over the most! And you did both! 😄 And both looked delicious. I'm a huge chili fan and crave it often, so I make it a lot and order it out, too! I enjoy almost any chili and am neutral on the beans issue!

Looks delicious. I'll have to try turkey. As for no beans in chili I've never understood that(I've always eaten it with beans here in Wis) as that's just meat soup. Everybody has their own chili recipe and gets to eat it anyway they like. tfs

I lived in TX for over a decade and don't know anyone who had a problem with beans in chili. Nowadays, chili without beans is more often a "hotdog" topping. But I can say with HIGH confidence that chili either with or without beans is far, Far, FAR better than no chili at all.

When I first buy ingredients for the next two weeks or so I have specific recipes in mind. Buy the end of that time period, I use what I have and try to make something interesting. More often than not those recipes are my favorites. Chili is a perfect recipe for that. Got some sort of meat? Perfect. Got some beans or not? Throw them in. Got some veggies? Toss whatever you have in and make it work
