A perfect chicken teriyaki plate lunch is undeniably the perfect mixed plate. Especially when it has homemade katsu in there too.

Probably the only thing that I would add to that dish (maybe as a substitute for a protein) is a spam musubi. Personal preferences aside, chicken katsu is more common, but it is indeed 100% authentic. Tonkatsu (Japanese fried pork cutlet) is way more delicious and it is up to you to choose the type of katsu to serve in the dish.

There's quite a few varieties for you to mix and match. Makes me want to grab some fried (coconut) shrimp instead for an alternate Hawaiian plate.

I'm totally with you there on the macaroni salad. I know it's a rice bowl but rice is so plain. I'm the weird guy who substitutes the rice for an extra serving of MAC. Love Hawaiian BBQ

Bro I love you and I have been religiously following you since day one…but when you are making a Hawaiian meal and your idea of ''good mayo'' is anything other than Kewpie or other Japanese mayo….get fucked bro

Authentic Hawaiian then makes Japanese food hahahah nah nah nah I get what you're saying tho. Its a traditional local plate lunch from Hawai‘i. Often confused with Hawaiian food. Looks great though!

Awesome job! I'm Hawaiian and the plate lunch is a classic. Your food looks amazing! Also, we call it "Mac salad" 🙂 I don't know if I've ever heard a Hawaiian person call it macaroni salad xD not that it matters lol
