As a child and young girl growing up we always used saved bacon grease we saved & my Aunt saved lard was for making biscuits & when we were lucky we got Crisco for my favorite cake, I’m 73 and thank we must be poor or country by today’s standards we never ate out or bought cookies, fig syrup was all we ever had and my son still loved Grandmother’s fig preserves & syrup over any bought. Kind of odd we all living old not concern brand names or how healthy it was or is at our age canned and frozen, making jelly & freezing peas & beans at 10 with Mama. They saw money wasn’t thrown away & we got our education some even college(me) on scholarship only way, but it all taught us would valued most God 1st and family.

We always buy two rotisserie chickens from Costco. Husband debones. It’s only the two of us but the chickens are so big this works even if I am cooking for more people. We packaged each chicken in two vacuum seal bags and freeze. So two chickens, 4 frozen packages. Always have cooked chicken ready to go. Love the Costco/Sams chickens.

Mandy your man is a gem. Sometimes I wish you would show meals he isn't crazy about. 😁 Just so the rest of us know you do make flubs. Who doesn't keep bacon grease? I love that you like green beans as much as I do. Where's the mashed taters?
