Hi Darcy, Irene from Johannesburg SA just started with dehydrating and enjoying it, more so because of your chanel also doing canning our electricity here is a nightmare. My daughter in law said that she sterilized her dehydrated goods before shelving. Do I need to do this?

QUESTION: I’m dehydrating fresh sliced strawberries. I have the temperature at 135 and it’s been over 12 hours. The humidity is high and they are not properly drying. Can I turn the temperature up and if so, to what? Thanks for sharing your experience!

I don't think preserving by freeze drying has to be for 25 years of use. It's just a safe way to preserve food, and that's just a plus.
Thanks so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience.

I bought a freeze dryer end of November 2022. We’re going to build rooms downstairs root cellar, storage and one for the freeze dryer and dehydrator. Here it is July 1 2023 and it still hasn’t happened it’s aggravating but what do you do. Unfortunately I can’t afford to pay somebody to do it. Still doing my dehydrating. 😊
