I thought fat doesn't dehydrate well. If oil is mostly fat, how does it dehydrate ?
If instead of the freezer I us mylar bags with O2 absorbers and put in the food pantry, how long could these last??? Thanks!
Wow that actaully looks amazing in the end. I had been looking up other dehydrated pasta with sauce recipes and they all looked insipid. Trust a new yorker for pasta with red sauce! thanks for making and sharing the video.
This channel is awesome! Have not been able to find this kind of content anywhere else! Thank you, 1960 Hiker Dude!
thats i good idea not for backpack packing so i have to cook less
do u have to store this in the freezer or can i store in my store room
I liked the video, but if I can give some constructive criticism, I think the background music was too loud.
Great video man! Glad to see someone did this with all ingredients mixed together. In the past I've kept the beef separate, but I also didn't rinse it like you did. Do you think the consistency of your rehydrated ground beef is good?? I dehydrate mine with bread crumbs to make them puff up more, but you can't rinse the beef if you keep it that way.
I know this is an old video, just found you on here , wanted to know how long will the food last,if not in the freezer
You're making me HUNGRY, 1960HikerDude!!!!! lol. Great video!
this is very impractical, probably takes up a lot of space too
you are so from new York !!!!
Meats, pastas, rice and sauces/vegetables should be dehydrated seperately for best results. It makes a huge improvement in quality when rehydrating.
Why dehydrate the pasta? would it not be the same as to add the pasta to the sauce at the the end before sealing?
I dont have a dehydrator, can I dehydrate the pasta meat sause in the oven? if yes for how long and what temperture? thank you for the video
I heard oil goes rancid? Have you ever had an issue or if you use it quick after freezing does it not go bad?
that guitar was way too loud and annoying…way to distracting sorry! :S
That is a really good idea. That's for sharing
I don't have a vacuum sealer. If I were to make this and place inside of freezer bags and refrigerate them until it's time to hit the trail, would that work? Also, how long would they last not refrigerated on the trail like that?
Thanks for the video and great instruction! I've tried this process with chili and was wondering how it would work with sk'hetti, now I know. Side question: who was that playing the guitar? Whoever it is, they're great!
very inspiring, thanks 1960hikerdude!
Just as I thought, pasta is hard to do on trail. Thanks!
Just wanted to pass along a thank you for this recipe. I cooked and dehydrated your recipe for a week long canoe trip this fall, and it was delicious. Thanks again!
Would the same rehydration process work in a thermos jar?
how long will these last if you don't freeze them?
I am new to making my own backpacking food… thanks for your recipes. Will the food rehydrate well if I add boiling water and then let it sit (like commercially purchased backpacking food)?
I am so thankful for your videos , I am learning to dehydrate food.
