I always enjoy your videos 😁 and I always learn something. I never knew the crosses were baked on with a different dough. I’ve only seen them in the grocery store with crosses of icing.
You have convinced me to finally try these. Ever since we moved from TX to Portland, we have craved “yeasty rolls,” which do not exist here and nobody knows what they are. When I hear chewy and pillowy, those are my two descriptors. Sans the crosses. Thanks for making these. I was getting desperate and almost pulled out a recipe a diner owner in Dallas gave us (hers were legendary), but she said they were super finicky. If these will satisfy our cravings for chewy and pillowy more than any of the other rolls I’ve made—I came close with some whole wheat rolls—I will look forward to making them.
