Some ways to use the liquid from canned greens. Also, the liquid from canned corn
Another thing we are doing is making things we have never made before. I made a delicious stinging nettle soup from an 18th century recipe on youtube. My daughter made a delicious soup from radish tops. Learning new things.
I love this. Can't wait to cook outside on a campfire with my grandchildren.
When my children were small but school age and money was so tight, it was the day before pay day. I had no idea what I would fix for supper. I had a few cans of this and that and a few leftovers. I added some ketchup by adding water to the bottle and getting those last few drops. This is before I started raising my own garden and canning. Added a pack of some kind of pasta I had. Literally the shelves were bare. My children said it was the best soup they had ever eaten and that I had to fix it again. They still remember that soup.
Love this! Thanks for sharing! I wouldn’t have thought to add some of those things
Could I soup up my enamel covered cast iron pot and do the same? Thank you. Blessings
There are some of these pot with a flat lid with a lid. If memory serves on the flat lid you can cook biscuits while dinner cooks in pot, just cover biscuits with foil to help cook. Blessings
I would have never thought to put all those ingredients together for soup. Thank you for this, now my brain is stormin!! 🤯🤣
U know…I can't build a fire, let alone keep it going. I am mystified as to how to do this. I've watched videos, followed the formula as exactly as i could…and every time I fail. I've used every trick but gasoline! I have a metal fire pit and a fireplace-no luck. I tried again this past winter—i am so frustrated, it can't be that hard!
This recipe looks delicious, but it also gets the imagination going on varieties of soups or stews to make with whatever you have or what your family would like. Including a protein, vegetables, carbs, and seasonings give great nutrition and will be tasty and filling. Maybe some pan bread or johnny cakes with it. Thanks!!!
Great idea and you can come up with so many combinations of what you like to customize your meal! I like that you kept the liquids in the pot, that really does add flavor and nutrition. I have found some of the canned soups lately have very little meat in them so if you want more meat, easy to add a can of chicken or other meat. I appreciate your channel because you do report on how things are right now but also give us ideas and tips to keep going. Thanks again Jinne.
Yummy!!
Perfect my friend
Yummy
You have me motivated to build a fire pit and start cooking some soup or chili in my backyard. I am going to try this. Thank you.
i love quick meals like this!
I've been wanting to get a cast iron dutch oven. Looks yummy! 😋
Dessert would be S'mores!!!
It's a super-simple-soup!! ;-D Looks delish. And that cast iron pot you restored the other day looks perfect for the job. Thanks for another important tip for preparing an easy meal during the challenges we'll soon face. 😀 <3
You're a great teacher 👍
I would think adding some quickly made homemade dumplings made from shelf stable ingredients on top would be a nice addition 😋☺
Yumz. 😋 Is there any left. Lol.
TFS HC, & take care too everyone. ❤🙂🐶
Yum Yum 😋
You come up with things to be simpler than many others. Thought of that last year and got a grate and cast iron thinking what if? I could open the Chef boy r dee and heat in the can.😆
Soup looks great!
A great addition to that soup would be socca/farinata. A simple and delicious chickpea flat bread and easily made in a cast iron skillet on an outdoor fire.
Back in Girl Scouts we called that Surprise Soup
My favorite shelf stable recipe is a can of chicken, can of tomatoes, can of any white beans, box of chicken broth and buffalo sauce. If you had leftover buffalo sauce packets from a restaurant you could use that to taste. If you have dried onions even better.
Would be great with Thrive Life veggies and chicken, just an idea !
Love the cooking outdoors for those days when it's too hot in the house.
nice one pot cooking
I enjoyed the video. I would like to know how to make the fire for cooking. I burn limbs and stuff, but to make a fire to cook on, I'm not sure I know how to do that. Thanks for sharing!
👍❤👍
Always great recipes
Just bought a tripod for that as well
I bought some chicken a la king but haven’t tried it yet.
This is a perfect video for me since I picked up my first cast iron dutch oven today. Your soup creation looks so yummy.
Looks delicious and so easy. 👍👍👍😊
Looks really tasty! I’ve made similar soups, but only in the house, not over an open fire. Building a fire pit (once the rain stops!) and I need a cast iron Dutch oven to go with it! Think this may just be our first fire pit meal!😊
You are the best Jinne!
Hey my favorite yankee lady!!! I am SO envious of your cast iron dutch oven. I got 3 skillets, a gridle, and tiny cast iron skillet passed down to me. And none of them had a dutch oven???? My parents had me late and were depression babies. And I got not one cast iron dutch oven?? Anyway, jealous in a good way. But, I want one SO bad.
