I know people who put in the powdered Ranch dressing and seasoning mix. You can get a big plastic container of it at Sam's Club. If they don't have it in the store they have it online I'm debating whether or not to use it because it has powdered buttermilk. I do have Frank's buffalo wing seasoning which is a powder and I can't take a lot of heat but I love the flavor of it so I sprinkle it into and onto things and got that at Sam's Club too.

I use a potato masher or my immersion blender and I found that the immersion blender does not add air and make them fluffy it makes them pretty much like when I do it by hand but my hands are getting really bad now.

Hey Jan………LOVE creamed mashed potatoes, I'm making some with my homemade meatloaf supper tonight. One thing my mom always taught me was to never use a spoon to mix my mashed potatoes, always use the potato masher or a fork……I remember it every time I make these 🙂 Thanks for sharing girl, wishing you a great day XO

Hi Jan! Love me some taters! When I make mine I leave just a tad of water, not much, then I'll add a whole stick of butter (to Almost 5 lbs of taters) sometimes I use sour cream, sometimes I don't. I'll whip that up and add my salt, pepper, a little garlic, then I'll add in Milnot, a little at a time until I get the right consistency. I kinda like them a little lumpy.

I think the less you mess with mashed potatoes, the better. For us, I just use plenty of real butter, whole milk, and salt and pepper. I like to use quite a bit of milk, because the potatoes absorb it, and the potatoes turn out perfect. I agree with not using a mixer, I like the old fashioned texture better, then overly fluffy ones.

I could eat that whole pan of mashed potatoes! Nothing beats an old fashioned potato masher. That's all I've ever used. I've never heard of mayonnaise in them. I will try that. Someone just told me to put a little mayonnaise in scrambled eggs, too. Thank you for sharing. I love trying new ideas.
