Boston Drop Cookies – 2/3 cup shortening ( I would use butter or lard personally) 2/3 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1- 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp vanilla. Cream sugar and shortening, add eggs and beat. Add flour, salt, & baking powder sifted together, add vanilla. That's it. No time or temp. Just as I found it in the book. So I would guess at 350 for 10-12 min. play around with the recipe and watch the cookies so they don't brown. ❤❤❤

I just ordered the book Keeping the Castle not even a week ago from an online used book site. Can't wait to get it! And so glad to heat I made a good choice. It should keep me occupied while recovering from my up-coming surgery. I'm a new subscriber enjoying your content ❤

So enjoyable. I did enjoy listening to the book recommendations. I wonder how my husband would feel about a tea party. What a special way to show your love and your care. You are a good example for your daughters. Your son will know what to look for in a good wife. Thank you.

Hi Abby Jo, such a lovely video. I love to find those hidden treasures at Goodwill. Thank you for the book recommendations. I loved reading At Home in Mitford series by Jan Karon makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to a kind loving town. I'm looking forward to making the cookies and custard.

It was nice that you mentioned Georgette Heyer. I have loved her for years. Side note: she wrote a handful of the best mysteries ever. Much better than Agatha Christie. Not morbid, a bit of humor, and a love story. Thank you for your sweet videos. I'm in a hard place in life right now and to further complicate things, I've been very sick. I'm watching your videos, they give hope and they are wonderful company. (The mysteries aren't Regency, they are in 1930s and 1940s. If you love that era, D.E. Stevenson is a British author who wrote lovely bread and butter novels that warm the heart) The coloring book is in my cart! I have loved that book so long.

Thank you for reminding me about the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady! I bought it a while ago when Tarnished Treasures mentioned it. It's been sitting on a shelf, neglected. Tsk! Such a lovely book! I love all your book selections. Thanks for your calming, inspirational videos that remind me 'it's the little things' that make moments special. Old tablecloths, comforting, healing foods and beautiful art and books!

Love, love, love this video. It gives me a sense of nostalgia, although I don't know why. I never had a tea party nor read Jane Austin. But something in your life touches mine. Thanks for sharing it with us.

You always such great things at a good price at the thrift store. The meal looks delicious. Your daughter was so sweet. It’s nice of you to show her different skills in the kitchen!! Good training. These are things she will treasure when she is older. Wonderful memories. You have some great books.

I love old linens, the weight and feel is so much nicer than todays linens. I think that the green table cloth you have maybe from the 1950's or maybe late 1940's. I have one very similar but mine has Lilly of the valley were you have roses. I always love a tea party.

Wow, love those curtains Abby Jo…also you found just the right spot. I love scouting for all kinds of linens at the thrift stores, not to mention all the books and furniture 🙈, but to be careful not to just buy because I can’t help myself, right? Thank you for the invite and lovely spread. Sending love from South Africa.X (‘The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady’ is my favorite too….all those lovely sketches. So, that coloring book is a real treasure.)

Great book choices Abby Jo. 'Persuasion' is my favourite Jane Austen too, with 'Pride and Prejudice' second. Your videos are lovely. I look forward to each one. Thank you.

One of my favourite things to find in old cookbooks is snippets cut from old magazines of recipes , old postcards or handwritten recipes all used as bookmarks . That and notes written right on the cookbook pages about any alterations they made to each recipe. I feel like they're passing their knowledge on to me. Diary of an Edwardian lady is one of my favourites too . Have you seen The wonderland of nature by Nuri Mass ? It's Aussie but maybe you've got something similar. It's supposed to be a child's teaching book but it's just Beautiful, drawing, learning about flora and fauna and a journal too . There's matching curriculum for it now. My little one will do it next year with me. Such a fantastic thing to do together. I love finding books that I enjoy along with my children. Those tiny curtains look like they were made for your kitchen windows , very special. D looks so pretty in her dress . Bows on Sleeves are just beautiful. Thank you for sharing lovelies ❤❤
