If after cooking it and there is even one stone in the rice, they will say you are not wife material. Chai o! πŸ˜‚

This rice is generally called Abakiliki rice now. It was this rice that gave my late sweet mother her wealth. This same rice trained my siblings and I. We lived in Akaeze, Ebonyi state then so our version was (maybe still) known as β€œAkaeze rice.
By the way, this rice is sweeter than foreign rice. Your need just the basic ingredients to cook it……… crayfish, salt, oil, pepper, tomatoes, maggi and sweetness overload is ready😁. This your egusi stew is for Sunday’s or feeling good days 😁😁

Finally, I was also trained to do the parboiling and drying process before milling even though I was in my early teens then and a girl πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Proud growing up days and love this rice. Well done ChiπŸ₯° sorry for the long epistle πŸ˜‚πŸ€£.

This is the rice I grew up with. I remember those days we spent hours trying to remove stones from the rice but these days people have options or prefer not to go through the stress πŸ™ƒ πŸ˜‚

Stone rice is good and unadulterated. We had to make do with local Gwari rice in the north and Abuja during the foreign rice ban by Babangida. What we did was to run the tap on the rice in a bowl inside the sink, remove all the stones perfectly well, and boil. The aroma was good.

I handpick just like beans before cooking.

This abakaliki rice is the healthier than those plastic 'imported' rice. Tastier too.

Mama Pride from Olam is the top of range Nigerian rice. I love it for chinese fried rice.

It's called Abakeleke rice. The best rice ever. But the picking is not for me. We normally pick our on Saturday because then in the 80's we cook rice every sunday, with palm oil stew and fish with little snails we pick from bush around house πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. I'm old in'nt? Love you floπŸ₯°
