The chili looks good. Especially on these cold days we are having. My grown son always eats peanut butter sandwiches with his chili. I never understood it either. I hadn’t though of the school lunch connection. Thanks Becky 🥣🥣

Nice to hear you talk about how Brett liked to eat his chili. I grew up liking a peanut butter sandwich with mine and I'm thinking probably because that's what we were served at school. I also love to dunk a peanut butter sandwich in my vegetable soup💞

Becky you look just fine to me. You don't need to lessen the calories. I can't wait to try this recipe, since your cream of broccoli soup turned out so well. I prefer to use canned tomatoes but I'm overruled here, so I use tomato juice. This winter I need to make and can more chili, so I'm going to put both in. I like to can soups and stews in the winter because it helps to heat the house. I'm in Wisconsin.

Becky, Chili is the official state dish of Texas. EVERYTHING you put in that pot will start a fight in Texas.
    1. Ground beef or chopped beef? Old timers say use the toughest, stringiest cut of beef you got, chop it up, and simmer it in cast iron until it cries 'Uncle!' I prefer ground turkey. White chili? With shredded chicken? That ain't chili.
    2. Beans or no beans? The no beans boys treat their preference as religion. (I like to use black beans and pinto beans (cooked with chilis) and add white beans at the end for looks.)
    3. Tomatoes or no tomatoes? Same fight as 'beans or no beans'. I say if you are going to use tomatoes, use diced, canned tomatoes. A squirt of ketchup takes care of the vinegar and sugar issue without starting another fight. If you are going to add tomato, half a cup of tomato paste adds a lot to the flavor.
    4. Onion: red, yellow, or white? For the love of all that is holy, do NOT use pearl onions.
    5. Carrots, garlic, mustard greens. Yeah, Texans fight over each of these. I puree carrots and garlic together and cook them with the onion.
    6. Chilis: jalapeno, serrano, poblano, chipotle, habanero, Carolina reaper, Anaheim, guajillo, usw.
    7. Corn starch, potato starch, Cajun roux.
Start early in the morning and simmer until supper. Serve with cornbread and butter, chopped cilantro, a whole pickled jalapeno for each bowl, and sour cream.

    helpful tips for chili:
to help thicken it consider halving a few potatos and letting them simmer in with the chili from the start. you can pull them out and serve separately if desired or leave them in.
another good thickening idea is to make a rue in with the ground meat before adding in the rest of the ingredients.
also, ilike a bit of cumin in my chili.
another really good starter for chili is one of those 15 bean soup kits.
for those who want to add a bit more liquid, consider a meat based broth.

Chili is a soup, and like any soup, it's 'use what you have' … I don't think I've ever made chili the same way twice, either. I love the addition of salsa in place of (or in addition to?) the tomatoes, peppers, onions, etc. if you don't want to do all that. Easy 30-minute meal, thanks Becky!

Not saying this to upset you but you don't need beans to make chili. I like my chili no beans every thing else is good. Beans are like eating dirt gritty and bad flavor. Love your videos for your recipes. Yum

This could not have come at a better time. Snow storm blowing in, wind chill in the negatives, and all the ingredients are sitting on my shelf. Sounds like a great day! Thanks!

REVIVAL at Asbury Christian College in Wilmore Kentucky…just 15 minutes from me…we were going to the community thrift resell store Thursday and the line was half a mile waiting to get in…they had to open several buildings and simulcast the revival to those buildings and and an outdoor screen that was put up…
Carlton Tucker called about interviewing someone from the college and they turned him down…Tucker still gave the event airtime on his show…
Many channels on msm and YouTube have mentioned the Revival..thank you for including them during your show…
The students I have seen speak say they are Hungry for spiritual healing…
    God bless you Becky..thank you..🙏…🌿🌿🌿

I've tried several canned chilis because I used to like them a lot, but now, it seems like every brand bothers me, so I will try this, and maybe I can freeze instead of try to keep canned. Yea, bout that…I think some of the reasons for those empty churches, is that some really bad things came over them. I hope they'll join in what's going on so maybe that's not the case soon. It's a little too freaky deaky for me. I only like big groups if I get to sing, but I will participate in prayers🙏🦋

I love chili, my question is when you put the cans of beans in do you drain and rinse or not? I drain and rinse them cause the stuff that the beans sit in doesn’t look very appetizing.

My kids hated beans when they were little, so I mixed refried beans in with the browned hamburger/onion (chopped really fine) and then added the tomato juice. They never knew 🙂
