Just a bit of advice: Locking the lid down on a slow cooker can cause it to build up too much pressure. This runs the risk of shattering the glass lid and possibly cracking the crock.
Your owner's manual may mention that. The locking mechanism is meant for when you transport your food in the slow cooker.
