I love that you guys visited Mr. Beef! I definitely have to visit next time I'm in Chicago! Also, side note: Sara you are absolutely glowing in this video!
Those Ann Sather cinnamon rolls are the best! Love Chicago!
That Beijing Duck dinner… YOU'RE KILLIN' ME, SMALLS!!!
I actually had guided food tour when I was there. I didn't pick the tour myself, I was a winner of a competition and it was part of the prize. It finished in this polish pastry shop and to my complete surprise what we tasted were pierogi, typical polish but also Slovak food (which is where I am from). So I was on this random tour thousands of miles from home, jetlagged having the food I remember since childhood and it tasted pretty much the same. It was very surreal.
That duck looked incredible. Def adding that to the list for a future Chicago visit.
I really miss all the food and music living in Chicago. Fries at Superdawg are great, and they come in the bun with the dawg. And next time, go the the Pequods out in Morton Grove, not far from Superdawg. Excellent choices for winter food and you didn't even scratch the surface! I can't believe you ate all that food in three days??
Best meal I had in Chicago was breakfast at Wildberry’s. It was around the corner from my hotel, and when I saw the line, I knew it would be special. Enjoyed the video
The Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chicago used to be a flagship store for Crate & Barrel. It closed in January 2018 & became the world's largest Starbucks coffee roastery and retail space on November 15, 2019. Also, Superdawg is actually still located within the city of Chicago, which is in the Norwood Park neighborhood. There is a second location of Superdawg that's located outside of the city in the village of Wheeling.
I gotta try that pizza place! Those donuts look sooo good! Firecakes old fashion donut is my favorite. Yes BangBang pie… Also, you should try Loaf Lounge Bear chocolate cake and Little goat diner for breakfast. Hope you come back soon!
Heck yeah! Hitting the Ann Sather for the most epic rolls of all time. You guys nailed it – miss Chicago visits.
Born and raised in Chicago (now in Atlanta) – you hit some of the great Chicago food icons. Well done. I've never been to Donut Vault – but it is definitely on the list for the next visit. Great video.
I would consider Ann Sather a bit dated. Lost Larson is the new place for cinnamon rolls.
In Uptown, there's also Milly's Pizza in a Pan and Kie-Gol-Lanee for Oaxacan food. Zaza's in Lakeview is also really good for thin crust.
Some other places you could try are Japanese style sushi (Mako/Juno, Omakase Yume, no California rolls covered in spicy mayo), dim sum (Ming Hin, Dolo), and regional Chinese (Chengdu Impression, Xian Cuisine). Also Au Cheval, rated the best burger in the US for many years. Some international chains too like Hai Di Lao. And of course steak (Beoufhaus, old classic Gibson's, Bavette's, Swift and Sons, personally don't like Maple and Ash but that's there too).
Jumped on YT to watch 🤣🤣 as. soon as I got the notification!
👏👏👏 Loved it! You touched based on all the classic. Loved the donut series!! Personally I prefer Firecakes. Here are my favs (casual dining):
Honey Butter Chicken
Smoque (BBQ – mich gourmand)
Lula's
Au Cheval (burger mich gourmand) – do a burger series 😁
We try out restaurant week in Late Jan /Early Feb – book early.
Sooooo many places! I'll run your ear off! 😂😂
Fine Dining is a different best. 😁
