I’ve discovered that these lives perform best when I cook, so let’s cook! I also need to clear the fridge, two birds one stone.

I think your brilliance, honesty and creativity is threatening to corporate types. I'm floored that they'd consider sacrificing you just to maintain a sense of control. Stay well. Take care of yourself.

Amanda (the dead prostitute,) we are supposed to imagine, volunteered to die to save Bill because she was an addict and as the party host said, with her it was "just a matter of time." And she was grateful because Ben actually cared, so maybe he, unlike her, was worth saving.
Ben and Alice struck me as two fairly privileged people that nothing especially dire or dramatic had ever happened to. They had pangs of FOMO; hers with the officer she never actually met. His when she told him about the officer. The truth was, neither of them really had it in them to walk on the wild side, and Bill got himself good and scared when he gave it a try.
I think Bill just assumed there was more going on than there was with Alice (but not with the private party.) We see it in his fantasies of her and the officer together. I think he saw the mask and thought she knew something, when all that happened was it fell out of the bag at their apartment and she found it on the floor or in the cabinet.
I believe the conversation in the toy store was them acknowledging that they knew something horrific about people they couldn't bring to justice because those people were just too powerful, and who knows how high up they might go? And it was also about their acknowledgement that they realized they weren't really capable of anything except being two fairly comfortable people with ordinary lives who were going to be monogamous and toe all the other lines because they REALLY weren't up for more than that.
    Hence, Eyes Wide Shut.
