Rose Red Homestead did an experiment using a special heat sensor inside one of her jars, she’s a homesteader and a science teacher. She tested a few different electric pressure canners on her channel last year. Here’s a link to one of her videos:
The dial gauges on pressure canners need to be checked and calibrated annually. These days, there's pretty much nowhere to do that.
Presto will send weighted gauges to Canadians for free because of this. I had an old model Presto canner sent to me from a friend in the US, and when I couldn't find where to get the dial gauge checked out, I contacted Presto. The older model I have needed a new part for the weighted gauge to fit on it, and that's all I had to pay for. The weighted gauge has three weight options, depending on your elevation. I'm only a couple hundred feet above sea level, so 10 pounds is enough.
Well I guess someone needs to do an experiment to see if the canned food reaches 240 degrees inside the instapot If they wont share the information…then let the people figure it out for themselves 🙂 P.s. if anyone does…come on back and share your results. I dont have an instapot, but if i could can with it I woukd definitely buy one 🙂
I should have died a few years ago… I have been using my Insta Pot for small batches of vegetables and meats and beans and lots of other stuff…
Great question and great answer!
